It will be at least a Tropical Storm, probably a Cat 1 Hurricane, when it comes ashore.
Low lying areas and areas subjected to storm surge are being evacuated in LA, MS, AL .. us here in NW FL (basically Lower Alabama) are watching carefully ... we will be on the Eastern Edge of the storm, which is normally the more destructive edge.
A beautiful weekend for sure *sigh*

Yep.
When the remains of Harvey blew through here we had 20 tornadoes in the area. More fun times for all

They just put our County under "Hurricane Watch" status ... yay! 😞

Sending love & prayers for the boardies in the path of Nate 😞 The worse that we here in the Northeast can get are blizzards. At best, there will be some inconvenience for a couple of days tops but we dig out and move on (at least for me anyway). We had our share of hurricanes/tropical storms but nothing like in the recent ones this past summer. Sandy was the one that did the most devastation and the lies that now have some in trouble for the damaged caused to their summer rental/homes. In my area, we only lost cable - power stayed on but without tv/internet/phone I felt like a caged animal. I do not live in a flood zone, but there are areas nearby that will flood and shut down major interstate roads. When I was working, one morning it took me 2.5 hrs to get to work when under circumstances it is only 20 minutes 😞 And I hate being late for anything 😞
((((Love for those in the path of Nate)))))

I just checked the latest maps, it's predicted to go more much more easterly than what they had it last night. Good for MS, not good for AL. The NE quadrant always has the worst weather. Of course that can change.
Right now it's moving fast - 21 mph. I hope once it gets out into the Gulf it doesn't slow down and sit over that warm water and strengthen. The faster it moves, the better. Less strengthening and less dumping rainfall.

We can get the blizzards occasionally here in the upper midwest as well. While we adults dig out the cars, the kids are jubilant with No School and are outside digging out snow caves and building snow forts! I don't like the occasional shoveling chore, but other than that I LOVE the winter, especially the stillness and mugs of hot chocolate.. real often!
Hope all are safe from this next hurricane moving in. Up here we get wind and blowing and rains that are in the category 1 qualifying area (and occasionally above that too) but just call them BIG RAINSTORMS... all that wind always takes down trees and limbs and most often electric lines, and roofs blown off, outbuildings sometimes blown over. It's a mess. BUT, no storm surges up here. Flooding, yes.
Always, always I keep fingers crossed for the folks who are in a path of some bad weather blowing into their area! Praying for all to come through with little damage or even inconvenience.

*** includes me 😞 one of the spaghetti models has the line going straight up into Mobile Bay ... The "P" in Pensacola is actually in AL on most maps ...

Well up until last year, the last blizzard I had to dig out my truck and my father's truck (suv) - now I have a reprieve from the governor - Daddy can't drive anymore and I junked my truck, so just one vehicle whew! I don't think he is happy having me "driving Mr. Daisy" LOL! The kids here are happy too for no school! My mother and sister worked for the BOE and they used to pray for snow!
I've never seen so many hurricanes back to back before this year 😞

If you go here:
Historic Hurricanes--Some Of The Most Powerful Storms On Record.
The site chronicles some HUGE hurricanes from all the way back into early 1500's
Many are very famous hurricanes, and it tells where they occurred.. very interesting.
Yes, it does seem like some years are heavy with them and some years are few and weaklings. I remember when I was a child in the 50's my mother being worried about taking a trip to Florida because they were having more hurricanes hit them that year.
This is certainly shaping up to be one of the years with more of them hitting here.

There was an individual who I consider to be part of the Backwash of Society who wrote a letter to the local newspaper:
Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment to America for electing Trump.
I don’t believe it for a minute, (there’s that whole Free Will thing don’tcha know) but just in case he is right God must be really PO'd

Most folks reognize loons and just get a good laugh over their antics and believed postulations.

Here we go again.
Man in car runs over several people in London.
Don't know if it's an accident or terrorist related yet.

Aww, cra* mad 😞
WTH is going on in this world?
Between Mother Nature's wrath and the plain evil of our fellow human beings, this whole planet is scre*d up 😞

I remember reading about an experiment with mice done many years ago. It was to determine how overcrowding induced stress, and then how elevated stress levels affected behavior.
At intervals, another mouse was introduced into the enclosure, and then another. Finally at some point, it got to be too much for the mice to live together in peace and they started fighting, and as more mice kept being introduced into the community, the mice started fighting to the level of death, and.. eating each other.
Makes me think of some areas of cities that are so crowded with people.. children's playgrounds are concrete and asphalt, air smells nasty, homes/rooms are crowded, and there is one ton of hatred and a desire to kill others, and their being quite innocent of any wrong doesn't matter one whit.
