Hello - I create all of my shipping labels on Ebay. A buyer has opened a case instead of contacting me, because they have not received their item by the expected date. I cannot locate the tracking information on Ebay and have been unable to connect to someone via Live Chat. Isn't a tracking # attached to the sale info? I can see the packing list but not the tracking info. Can you please help? Thank you, Nicki

The reason you cannot see it is because it does not exist. There is no tracking on USPS first class mail.

It should be, assuming that you shipped using a method that provides tracking. You could also check your off-eBay email address, as you should have received confirmation emails there when you purchased the label.
What was the listing number and what day was it mailed?

It was mailed 1st class through ebay #286171729411 on Nov.22. Another member kindly responded and said that there is no tracking for 1st class.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Would there be any kind of record within Ebay? I'm not crazy about refunding and then having the package arrive and losing my money.

something else that is curious to me is that the buyer selected First Class shipping, which I never offer.

Your listing shows USPS Ground Advantage as the shipping method. That should come with tracking if you used it. 1st Class is not a package service anymore, it is strictly for flats and letters and comes with no tracking at all. Go to the Order details for that listing and it should show you what you shipped by.

clicking on see details shows that GA package and 1st Class large envelope were both offered.

If you mailed your First Class item on November 22, and the estimated delivery date has been passed, you probably have no choice but to refund your buyer, since your buyer has opened an INR case against you.
There is no tracking on First Class items, and eBay will have no tracking record, since tracking doesn't exist for First Class items.

If you purchase the label through eBay it automatically uploads the tracking information to the order if tracking is available which in this case it is not. You are in Connecticut and not sure where the buyer was located, or what the projected delivery date is/was, but First Class tends to move through the system a bit slower. If the buyer is/was located in one of the areas that just got hit by the snow storms you may have some seller protection but unfortunately you need tracking information for this to be effective.
About the only thing you can do is wait till the last day to respond to the case and hope that you have an honest buyer that will notify you if the package arrives. If not you need to refund or the buyer will ask eBay to step in and they will fully refund the buyer and ding your metrics.
Hopefully this was not an expensive item.
