Help with Combined Shipping

I just sold two similar listings. Buyer bought both listings, but paid separately and wants combined shipping, which I'm happy to do.

It's just that this is the first time I'll be doing this, and don't know how to handle ebay generating two label requests. I know I need to pack and weigh the items in one box. But do I have to refund the buyer on both items and then send an invoice? Help?

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

After you package the 2 items, weigh and measure the box, you would only print 1 label, and apply that tracking number to both listings in your "Awaiting Shipment" window. (Add Tracking Number) There are other ways to do it, but this would be the easiest to explain (I think)

Then you can partial refund (if you like) the difference back to the buyer.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

I have done it many times just the way @monica-sells has described, even the refund.  But don't forget to manually upload the tracking into the item that you didn't print the label from

@mountaingigi

If they did not purchase and pay as a "quest" then you may be presented with the choice to "combine" when you go to your orders.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

Thank you. I don’t think they paid as a "quest" (whatever that is). Each item and shipping has been paid separately.

I just looked at orders, and do not see an option to combine shipping under either of the order details. The buyer just left a note to combine shipping. I have communicated with them about this, so all good there.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

So if I do as monica-sells suggests (and thank you for that), ebay won't bug me about the other label?

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

"quest"  is they put everything in their cart and requested a quote for total including shipping before paying. This works, too, but an issue for the buyer is someone else can pop in & pay full price and take the items while the request is processed.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

You can combine them by using the bulk shipping labels tool, or just purchase a label for one order but use the new dimensions and weight for them all packaged together, and then copy and paste that tracking number into the other orders.

To use the Bulk Shipping Labels tool, go to your Active Listings and select the orders you wish to combine.

At the top of the list, choose Shipping -> Get Shipping Label.

On the next screen, select the orders that are from the same buyer and choose Combine at the top of the page. Then edit the dimensions and weight before continuing with the purchase of the label(s).

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

@mountaingigi  as long as you add the tracking number to the other item, as @monica-sells  explained.  No problem.  I've done this and refunded the difference.  Congratulations on your sales.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

@jonathanbrightlight  is right, you can do it with the bulk shipping tool, however, that's always been somewhat kludge & I can never find it, so I don't use that.  If you do it that way though, there IS a button to combine.

If you just do it on the regular Orders screen there is no button to combine.  You just do what @mountaingigi  said.  As long as you manually add the tracking number (gotta do that first), then mark it Shipped, you're good, eBay knows they are both in the same pkg.  Then process your refunds.  If you allow returns, you may want to split the refunds in a pro-rated fashion in case of a return.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

First - thanks to everyone who offered help and suggestions. Greatly appreciated. I spoke with an ebay CSR today, and she walked me through what turned to be a relatively easy process. So It did involve using bulk shipping. I'll share that here for anyone interested.

1) In Orders,  I selected both orders, but then only clicked on one of them. On the same page, I clicked on "get labels in bulk".

2) On that page I selected all and then "combine". It then asked me to review box size and weight, which I did have to edit, because the combined info I entered at the beginning on the Orders page didn't carry over.  Then "Review purchase and pay". Everything looked good. Purchased and printed the label.

The only thing that didn't "combine" were the packing slips. Even though I clicked  on one, it printed individual pages for each order with the original shipping paid, but not a big deal. I'll be refunding the overage to the buyer.

Again, thank you all for taking the time to help.

I'm pretty sure in this scenerio "quest" is a typo and should have been Guest.

It's not possible to combine multiple orders from a Guest buyer because each purchase will have a different used id.

If a Guest buyer uses the cart then combining is possible.

Re: Help with Combined Shipping

Just to add - I didn't have to do anything manually for a tracking number. I just checked Orders, and both items have the same tracking number.

That's b/c you used Multi Order Shipping, exactly as we told you, there are 2 ways to do it.  The other way, the way most of us do it, requires you to manually add the tracking number.  Either way is fine.  I just never remember how to find MOS & I find it kludge, as it has been for years.
