Help with Buyer filing Item Not Received Claim with Item Scheduled to Be Delivered on Monday

Did you upload tracking in to the INR? That’s all you need to do.

You need to respond to the INR by adding the tracking number into the case. Yes, even if it's already there, add it again.

That is all I would do at this point.

Ebay will not force you to refund if the item shows movement in the postal system.  I wouldn't even mention to them that's it scheduled to arrive on Monday (because, what if it doesn't??)

Once it's delivered (presumably on Monday), if they buyer no longer wants it, they can open a return and send it back.

@reallyneedcash

Since you are not required to reply until the 26th just wait for the delivery to happen on Monday and then upload the tracking to the Refund Request. The tracking may be already be showing in which case just message the buyer (through the refund request) informing them that delivery has been made or is imminent.

Hello and thanks for your reply!

You mean I should select the "Update tracking details for the buyer" option within the INR claim?  It comes prepopulated with the tracking number I already provided, so all I would have to do is "Save and Continue", correct?  And you would do this now, rather than waiting until it is delivered?

YES that is the procedure (good on you for figuring it out; the word "update" throws some people off).
Yes I would advise doing it even if you believe it will be delivered before your deadline to respond.  The fact is you don't KNOW when it will be delivered no matter what the words on the screen say.  I would never advise not responding to any kind of official claim/case on eBay.

Also, I do not accept returns and absolutely would not on this item unless the buyer wants to pay for return shipping as well as my ebay fees that I had to pay on the original shipping and sales tax.  Basically any option they might be able to choose to return it would cost either or both of us more than the value of the item... never should have listed something like that in the first place I guess, lol.

If they file an Item Not As Described claim, your only choices would be to refund (full price including original shipping) or accept the return, where you'd have to pay for the return shipping AND full price including original shipping.

Yeah it's never a good idea to list something big/heavy enough to where the shipping cost is anywhere near the item's value, let alone MORE for shipping.  -Because of this exact scenario with potential INAD returns.  And there are savvy scammers out there who see items with high shipping:value ratios as opportunities ripe for picking.

Sorry to tell you but with an INAD it's not even an "uphill" battle.  There is no way to battle an automated system giving you limited options to click.  It doesn't matter how well you described and photographed the item, if the buyer wants to return it (even for a remorse reason) they can simply make up a lie that counts as an INAD.  Yes they must provide a photo of the item, but how could you "battle" them saying the item reeks of cigarette smoke or pet urine?

By the way, no human even reads what they write, nor looks at the picture.   Here's a classic.  -Buyer claimed the seller sent the wrong size of shirts (which they didn't).   Buyer submitted 2 random photos from his camera: dead ducks and a ship rudder.

And all of that is appealable, with many examples online of people winning such appeals.  I don't care if ebay refunds the buyer as long as they don't take the money from me.  But thank you for your advice!

If you do not cooperate, eBay will refund from your back up funding source, or the checking account, you will not get your fees back, and your selling account would receive a defect.
The buyer may also be able to leave feedback.

If you know how to appeal (it's hard) you might succeed, but bear in mind they keep track of courtesy refunds and won't do them every time.  So .... just me, but I wouldn't try to appeal a refund for a total under $30 like this^ sale; I would save it for a more painful one.

Having No Returns is a really bad idea for so many reasons.  But I won't try to convince you now; you'll realize it on your own.

20 years selling on ebay never once had to issue a return, guarantee you that would be different if I accepted them, but once again, thanks for the advice!!

20 years, eh? During which you received 127 feedbacks as a seller.

This isn't a meaningful sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions.
