Hello
Buyer instead of open return request, but file a chargeback from their bank for item not as described. Also left negative feedback.
Anyone know what will happen since this is out of my control?
Will feedback eligible for remove? We offer free return though.
The eBay Payment Management is getting worst and i cant opt out of it.
Thanks for help.
Regards

Just @sky_money
- click on Return for refund,
- issue a return label, and
- refund after it returns.
What do you mean you can't???

If the seller is in Managed Payments, those choices are not available. In managed payments there are two choices only
Refund the buyer (and let the buyer keep the product)
or
Contest the claim (and perhaps pay an additional $20 bonus to eBay). To do that one must provide ONLY a photo. There is no place to explain what happened, and there is no "return for refund" choice at all. Apparently, a return of the merchandise by the buyer is no longer required for a refund.

That sucks 😕
Just got into MP so have not used those features yet but I know it's coming sooner or later

Yes, Managed Payments. Buyer still have option to open return request. But some refer to file chargeback direct from their bank. So they can keep the items and get refund back.
We experience that eBay will eventually cover for us but it could take up to 90 days. But we wonder about the feedback, we hope eBay will cover that too.

is this for real? A buyer buys a $1000 diamond bracelet from me, decides it doesn’t match her cat’s eyes and my only choices are to refund her and she gets to keep it or protest it even though I’m perfectly willing to issue a prepaid label, have the item returned and then issue a refund? Surely that can’t be legal. Oh, wait a minute, it’s eBay...

there will be no sellers left on ebay if that comes to fruition.

if this is the case then ebay is going to lose most of its sellers and when the scammers find out this is the policy this site is more than likely toast

Ask for guidance from customer service before jumping ship.

i think it might come to the point pretty quick if this is the new policy, just quit selling and become one of ebays most frequent buyers. there are multiple things i need that i cant afford. wonder if ebay will help me out. it would be a win win situation for both of us.

The dispute process with Managed Payments is uninformative, but also unambiguous. Unlike a PayPal chargeback, which allows for the addition of photos and explanation in your response, all you have to do is follow the instructions provided by eBay in the provided time frame (the sooner the better).
I've had 3 MP payment disputes for "the buyer didn't recognize the transaction". In all 3 situations, I only added the tracking number - I didn't attempt to contact the buyer or provide any additional information to eBay. I won 2 because I uploaded tracking showing the items had been delivered weeks before the cases had been opened. Both cases took about 3 weeks to resolve.
In the dispute I lost, I had already shipped the item less than 24 hours prior to the dispute being opened. I thought I would be covered since I'd already shipped the item, but I lost and had to pay the $20 fee because the buyer "refused" the package. I was actually ok with this outcome since I got the item back and a package intercept would've cost about as much as the fee anyway (and it isn't guaranteed). This one took about 2 months to resolve.

Hi
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, eBay MP will eventually cover for the chargeback, but it takes longer time.
But my scenarios is a bit different. Buyer open chargeback for not as described. He/She already left a dirty message to us. Also left us Negative feedback.
The point buyer doing that, they want to take the items and get the fund back. Also we wont able to remove feedback.
I think this buyer had a really rough lives and just want to pass the anger to someone else. That sad.
