Hi guys,
I received a message from eBay saying 60 of my listings are in violation of their policy. Here is their message:
"We're writing to let you know that as of September 17, 2017, some of your listings require immediate update due to policy violations or active content usage.
60 of your listings contain(s) contact-information such as phone number, email address or weblinks, which is in violation of listing policies. Noncompliant listings will soon be blocked. "
I have checked my listings and I do not list any contact number or email addresses. Could they be referring to my retail shop address, or the Auctiva links at the bottom of my listings?
Are you able to view a few of my affected listings mentioned and identify where are we in violation of eBay policies?
Some of the affected listings: 263095967249 , 263095981010
Thank you for the advises!

Where to start 😞
Your pictures are hosted off ebay.
You have a link embedded to somewhere off ebay under "Please Take Note"
Your physical shop address is in the listing (twice) , along with an actual photo of the storefront
And finally ... The Auctiva links

Yes........store address is probably causing the contact violation...... I thought I saw it twice in one of those item descriptions...one may be truncated.
Active content.......is probably Auctiva........and you might try looking at their website, it's my understanding that they are fixing the problem with their link........BUT I don't know how that affects old links.....whether they can replace them with an update or what.........

I found that listing ISBN numbers in my description was interpreted as a phone number. I did this when I was selling a Lot of several books. I was removing the numbers until I figured out I could eliminate the space between ISBN: and the number and it passed muster. I don't know if Casini searches descriptions or not, so this may be an exercise in futility.

And .... because I just can't keep my opinions to myself LOL:
Your TOS is ridiculous and contains negative wording and possible policy violations ... like ALL of your returns conditions. You have a 14 day return policy. You cannot add conditions to that or restrict it to 3 days. You cannot force a buyer to pay for return shipping on SNAD...even from Singapore.
Your listings are seriously NOT mobile friendly 😞
Your template is too wide and cannot be seen in its entirety on my 10" Tablet ... I didn't even check on my smartphone.

All of the Auctiva users that have been posting recently either have the scrolling gallery or the view counter in their listings ... all have the Auctiva logo pic ... I wonder where those are hosted?

I don't know. All of this is beginning to make my head swim. I am reading one thing from ebay people on these boards but then I'm reading something different from ebay people on the Ebay For Business Facebook pages.

Anything that AUCTIVA puts in the listing they are fixing... New and old listings.
The scrolling bar has been fixed, if it goes to the ITEM and not a generic eBay page of your listings it's not fixed and Auctiva needs to remove it for you. **The fact that the scrolling bar no longer takes you to the exact item but instead dumps you on the Seller's "all selling" page and is why I had them all removed from my listings. **
The picture hosting has also been fixed, if Auctiva users put the pictures in the picture areas of the listing form they will be eBay compliant.
If they put the pictures in the description box they may or may not be eBay compliant.
*******************************************************************************************************************
PS every one getting that email needs to note, that if your pics are too big (in the description area) it triggers the bot (not mobile compliant), if you have links to eBay pages with out the _blank part it will trigger the bot, if you have older templates it will trigger the bot (not mobile friendly).
The words 'contact me" do not trigger the bot... I have that in every listing. The ones being flagged are the ones where I made "contact me" a link to "ask seller a question" withOUT the _blank part... once I fix that issue the bots leave them alone.

Every time I sign in to Auctiva I'm hit with this wall of text:
We’re Here to Help You Comply With eBay’s Link Policy
We understand the importance of staying compliant with eBay policies, and even more importantly, we know how to help when eBay makes changes to those policies.
As you may have heard in eBay’s Summer Seller Update, they’ll be changing their link policy this September––but don’t worry, we’re updating all Auctiva links so they’ll be compliant with this policy.
Here’s What You Need to Know:
- We’re automatically updating all Auctiva credit links to ensure they’re compliant. No work required on your part!
- For new listings, all Auctiva credit links now point to an eBay page and are 100% compliant with the new policy.
- For your already active and GTC listings, we will convert the Auctiva credit links to eBay compliant links, automatically.
- The Scrolling Gallery is here to stay––but because of this policy change, the experience for your customers will be slightly different.
- Due to eBay’s new link policy, the Scrolling Gallery experience will be slightly different. It will continue to cross-promote your items and increase traffic to your listings. However, instead of taking the buyer directly to the individual listings, they will now be taken to a targeted search results page that only displays your listings. This will allow your listings to be compliant with eBay’s new policies and most importantly, you can still continue to promote other items in your store.
- The supersized image page is going away but we are currently working on a replacement––so stay tuned.
- As a result of eBay’s new link policy, we can no longer link to the Auctiva supersized image page. We are looking into a solution to replace this feature, however there will be a period of time where “super size” isn’t available. In the meantime, we will remove all supersized image links for new and already active listings, so that all Auctiva links and features will be 100% compliant with eBay’s link policy.
- Have you placed any non-eBay links of your own inside of your listings?
- If you’ve put links inside of your item descriptions that do not point to an eBay page, you may need to remove those links. Auctiva provides a powerful tool that can help you find and replace item description information for your active listings.
- Here’s how to remove a link from your item description:
- Go to your Active Listings Page.
- Select the listings you need to remove a link from, or select all.
- Click the “Bulk Revise” button.
- Select “Description” in the “Field” drop down menu.
- In the “Find this matching text” box, paste the link you want removed.
- In the “Replace with this text” box, put a link to your eBay store, or just replace the link with words.
- Click “Continue” and let the update complete.
Have questions?
If you have any questions or need help, just contact us––we'll be happy to assist you.
Happy selling,
The Auctiva Team
**************************************************************************
PS they have fixed the supersized issues and as they post NEW they are working correctly, older listings do not "pop out" like the new ones do, but they are at least ebay compliant.

Which means Auctiva fixed that issue for the OP and that's not the problem.
I'm betting it's the older templates giving them grief and not being mobile friendly.

<<I'm betting it's the older templates giving them grief and not being mobile friendly.>>
And the fact that they actually do have their physical address in the Description ... twice.
And that mystery link ( that I backed out of ) hidden under the heading "Please Take Note" ... that one most definitely goes off ebay 😞

I wonder what this will do for the users in the UK? Don't they have to have their information in their listings? I thought it some sort of requirement law Ebay couldn't get around.

Sellers on .co.uk and other European sites have an actual place to put their contact info that shows on the left side when viewing their listings. It doesn't go in the Description.
