Hey everyone, Im hoping since Ebay has taken the stance as we can't help you someone on here can! I sold and item to a user, with all of the new payment issues we used square card. Payment went through no issue, i semt him gis items valued at $3,116.06. He signed for them. Now a few weeks later he files a charge back stating he doesn't know the charge...I just had that same amount taken from me. Ebay said they won't help, no info, even if the name he used or address he had me ship to is correct. He has been a member since 2009 with over 1100 positive reviews. I just got done filing a police report (per Ebay) but it would be nice of anyone else has delt with this scum bag and has more than just his email. Can anyone out there please help me??!?!? $3,116 is alot of money and now my account is overdrawn..I'm unemployed and have been selling things to pay my bills so this hurts, now my account is negative and I won't make rent..Please help me

Please reach out to e-Bay on Facebook for Business and post a message to them to see if they can assist you on this chargeback claim.
You need to report the Buyer for fraud though in the transaction view first.

square card?

I take it you're from another country.
I take it "square card" is just a brand of credit card there.
In a credit card charge back ebay has no say in the matter.
You'll have to plead your case directly to the credit card company.
The only advice i can offer is this...
Never sell anything on ebay that you can't afford to lose.
Good luck. I hope it works out for you.

Nobody here (besides you?) even has his email. How'd you get that and what is square card? Expand, please...

Did it sell on ebay or did you take the transaction off of ebay? I am asking because this "payment issues/we used square card" being mentioned does not sound right to me.

Square is merchant payment processor. Many brick and mortar, flea market or show merchants use Square to process credit/debit card payments.

If your eBay user ID is the same as it is on your Square account you maybe able to win the chargeback request.
My gut feeling tells me since the buyer filed a didn’t recognize charge versus item not received dispute they are trying run a fast one by you.

How would the OP have been able to use Square as his payment processor if ebay does not accept Square as a form of payment -and- if he had taken the sale off ebay, the how would ebay be able to put his funds on hold? We need more information.

The OP never said eBay put his funds on hold or debited his account for the cost of the item. The original post says, "I just had that same amount taken from me."
The way I'm reading this, the transaction was consummated outside of eBay (not saying that the OP realized that what s/he was doing was wrong).
eBay-wise, the OP is out of luck. S/he'll have to pursue a remedy elsewhere.

While both the OP's sold listings appear to offer only local pickup, the original post says, "i semt him gis items valued at $3,116.06. He signed for them." I infer that means s/he ended up shipping the item(s).
I think there are a lot of questions about this transaction that only the OP can answer. Hope s/he comes back to check in.

I'm sorry this happened to you, and that's a big loss. But when you used Square because you feel you have "issues" with eBay as the payment processor, you cut eBay out of the picture. Now eBay has no reason to help you, even if it could. You took the transaction off-eBay, eBay did not process the payment, and you lost your eBay seller protection (such as it is).
The card companies don't want to spend any money on investigation or lose any customers of their own, so they smile and nod and okay every chargeback and let the devil take the hindmost -- the hindmost being honest sellers and, ultimately, honest buyers who must pay more for everything to cover the sellers' losses.

I'm guessing the buyer paid for the item through Ebay.
Since it was listed as local pick up, they paid for the shipping through Square.

If I'm reading the OP correctly, he's out over $3K in the chargeback -- so more than shipping, surely.
