So I sold a pricy, used collectible figure last night, buyer paid, and I woke up to a a message from the buyer asking me to ship tomorrow morning (I have s/h set to two days). Then he stated that he would be returning the item right back if the joints are loose (I have sold as is, stated it’s used, and no returns set). He also asked if I could send priority instead of ground.
I’m a new seller and got red flags going so I sent a polite message saying I think he’s expecting a new item when mine is used and that I’d send a full return. It’s my first time doing this so I sent the buyer a full return and I couldn’t cancel afterward so I just marked as shipped.
My question is: is there anyway he could open an INR case and get a double refund? I understand I’m most likely getting negative feedback, but I already sent a refund. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.

Its good item was not sent. You can go back into the item and mark it unship. Go into your feedback section and pull up item and mark it unship.
The buyer doesn't sound like a nice buyer. In my opinion, I would block him from future buying also ASAP.

You have sold sold items listed. Did E tell you they paid & to ship it?

Thank you for your reply! I will mark it unshipped. Buyer was blocked. I just hope he doesn’t open an INR after already getting a full refund.

Don't list pricy items as a new seller your going to be scammed. List lower value stuff first and build your feedback. I think he can still open an INR case since you marked it shipped. Never do that and cancelling orders as a new seller is a bad practice.

Remember that with no cancelled order, eBay will still hold it in your 'Awaiting Shipment' column... and be expecting it.
ETA: eBay doesn't know why you issued a refund.

If you clicked on 'Cancel' order, it will ask you to refund and why you are cancelling. Once refunded through that system, buyer cannot 'open a refund' to get money back because there are no funds to refund.

I just spoke with eBay chat support & he stated the buyer can’t get two refunds if I’ve already given one.

1. Did you describe any defects in your listing description? Not certain what pricey means but it is what you have to loose or keep.
2. If so, did you say if the item had loose limbs?.
3. Used items could have loose limbs or not. If the limbs are loose - I would confirm that to your buyer and ask how they should proceed i.e.ship or cancel. All the buyer needs to do is open an Item Not As Described and you will have to refund and pay return shipping. If you get eBay involved in a dispute . eBay may allow the buyer to keep the item and you still have to refund.. Read this link on buyer protection -
3. I think your two day s/h means 2 day handling time - - the time from payment receipt to the time it gets in the hands of the carrier confirmed by an acceptance scan w/time and date by the carrier - not the time it was dropped in a box. If that is that handling time that means two business days. Monday thru Friday unless there is a holiday on the Friday or Monday. two day means 48 hours from payment receipt based on Pacific Coast time unless you have your time adjusted to you local time..
4. You cannot not cancel a paid for item, the buyer has request thru eBay (not a private email) andorder cancellation. More reading for you
Now I'm going to go eat. dinner.

I don't think the buyer can get two refunds, but am advising that you cancel the open order that eBay expects you to ship.
Not closing out orders will harm your Seller Metrics, and you don't want that as a new seller. Trust me.

Well I sent the refund and I’m not shipping it. I’m not going to risk a NAD and then possibly end up with nothing or have to pay $20 return shipping. It’s a used item, it’s not realistic to expect a seller to go down and list every possible defect. I’m okay getting stuck with a negative feedback and eBay demerit from an INR than to be out $200. It’s just common sense.

It physically won’t allow me to cancel the order. It says “You can’t cancel this order because it’s already been refunded in full.” If it was possible I would.

Well, I'll be danged... you taught me something. (I thought you could still 'Cancel', but list $0.00 in the refund amount.)
At least they won't be looking to you to ship, which makes it a closed order. Victory!!! 🙌

I wish it wasn’t like this, but I was getting full red Alarms. I’ve only sold about 50 things but I’ve never had a buyer up front tell me they’re already planning on returning a used item if it’s not up to their standards. Buy new instead. I don’t get it.

Sure it is. I do. Many sellers do. Maybe it's just me, but if I was confident in my product, I would have sent it no problem. Also, it's reasonable that he asked for Priority. There is really no ground shipping anymore. There is Parcel Select, but I think it's being phased out. No one uses it, as it takes forever & generally only costs a dime less than other methods. Asking you to ship on Monday, no biggie, lots of buyers ask for that. You absolutely should be listing any & every flaw, that's expected by the buyer & eBay & a reasonable expectation IMO.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not getting red flags from this buyer, though I am a long time seller.
Also, there is no "as is" & while you can have no returns, you can not have no refunds. If they file a SNAD, you are refunding & paying return shipping, whether their claim is valid or not. Period.
