Help! I sent a buyer the wrong item

I sent the buyer one of my empty boxes that did not contain anything and it was a genuine mistake as I only had 2 of the same box and one of them had the product in it. I understand that I made a huge mistake and I should eat any of the repercussions but how do I go about this to make it right, do I send the correct item to the buyer immediately? is there no danger in that? or do I have to go and make the buyer start a return/refund process (i have no intention on getting that box back) and then relist it and have them buy it again or can I simply just ship them the correct item, I am just worried mostly about them attempting to refund after I give them the actual product.

Send the right item to the buyer asap.

Message the buyer and explain what happened so they wont be surprised to receive a empty box. 

Apologize for the delay.

Have a beer.    😃

Email the buyer asap being honest and tell them the replacement will be in the mail Monday morning.  For every order there is an option to print another label, you can use that.  Buyer will get email notification and new tracking is with the order. No need for a return.

First & foremost, communicate with your buyer, so they know you're an honest seller & are going to make it right.  Then, send the item.

Contact the buyer and let them know what you did and immediately send the correct box (with the item!) . Provide the tracking number and while you're at it, provide a small gift with an apology note.

Any respectful buyer will give you great feedback for your effort.
