Heads Up - Printing A Label not allowing me to choose Dec 24th - EBAY FIX THIS

I posted this in Shipping & in Tech Issues, but just a heads up since most sellers are here.

This is so bizarre, but Ebay is not allowing me to print a label for 12-24, a weekday, work day for most that is NOT a Holiday!   I'm only allowed to print it for today or the 27th.

My PO is open & my carrier does pick up on 12-24.  Why on earth is Ebay not allowing me to print a label for tomorrow.  This is a rhetorical question, as it's an obvious glitch.  But hoping someone will see from Ebay & FIX THIS please!

Can't remember how to @ Nate Heyward, anyone remember the nomenclature for that?

Then print it with today's date. The post office doesn't really care.

If I print it with today's date, it will ship "late", since it's going out tmw.  The PO doesn't care (actually MANY of them do, though mine does not), but Ebay cares & it affects your metrics.

I know how to get around it.  I'm just giving people a heads up.

A heads up on the issue is great but why wouldn’t you provide your work around as well?

Posting the same ‘heads up’ multiple times isn’t necessary.

Sellers who don’t want to print with todays date for pickup tomorrow, eBay is not the only option for these labels. PayPal and Pirateship are certainly good options.

If you print the label with todays date, and take it to the post office on the 24th, which is the day you were going to mail it anyway, how is that late?

Per another thread about this started on 12/15; answered by an eBay employee:

We are aware that some post offices and areas will have reduced hours or pick up on December 24th. For sellers impacted by shorter hours, you will be protected for late shipment as long as the package receives an acceptance scan by end of day Monday, December 27.

B/C I figured most sellers would choose their own work-around, as there are pros & cons to each workaround, so it's an individual decision.  One way, you take a hit on your acct metrics, though if your metrics are good you may not mind that.   None of the options are really ideal, so I will wait to see if 12/24 appears on the menu later today/tonight, as it should.  If not, I guess I'll go with 12/27 b/c in another thread someone from Ebay indicated they are extending protection if it's scanned that day.  HOWEVER there is apparently a further issue with a USPS surcharge for Xmas then not being applied correctly.

Many PO's are sticklers for the right date appearing on the label.   Thankfully, mine is not, but Ebay is preventing that from happening for the sellers who's PO's are sticklers.

I did not post the same heads up multiple times, but in multiple places.  As I felt appropriate, since it is a shipping issue, a selling issue & an Ebay tech issue.  Mainly I was hoping that someone on Nate's team would be notified of it.   I also tried to email Nate directly, but I apparently don't have his correct EM addy.

The problem is that Ebay decided a normal work day is a holiday & Nate's team needs to be aware of this.  There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be able to print a label for 12/24, since it's a normal USPS work day officially & many of us have normal carrier pickup tomorrow.

With 1 day handling, if you print it with today's date, the acceptance scan needs to happen today.  If I take it to the PO tmw, it won't get the acceptance scan in time.

My metrics can handle that, but someone else's may not.

Yes, thank you for posting that.  Someone else alerted me to it as well.  However, also per that thread there is a possible problem with USPS Holiday surcharge not being applied correctly, if you do what the 'pink' is recommending.

Mine is closing at 12PM tomorrow. Doesn't the holiday surcharge only apply to things expected by Christmas or is that going to continue until 12/31?

No, that is for SAME DAY shipping.

I have a one day handling time. If I sell an item right now and print the shipping label, the scan does not have to happen until tomorrow by midnight Pacific time.

Now if someone's PO is closed tomorrow, print the label for Monday and ship then.  You may or may not get a ding, but there's a reason nobody has to be perfect with shipping being uploaded.

I actually just had a sale (woot!) For the shipping label, today is available, the next available date is Monday.

I just called my PO to see if we had pickup and delivery tomorrow. The answer is yes, and the window is open until noon.

I'll print the label tonight as usual, use today's date and my carrier will pick up tomorrow.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

That's their way of making up for allowing sellers to select dates that ARE holidays for the shipping date.
