Having the option of pre-owned vs used

I see pre-owned on listings vs used. Is this category dependent or something I am not seeing when listing?

There are a few items you can only list as new.

Have a great day.

Sure, I get that. I was thinking if the verbiage "used" shows "pre-owned" on a listing, and if it is dependent on something one marks when listing.

But now looking at my listings, I see it states pre-owned when I marked used when listing. I answered my own question.

Sorry.

If you ask me pre-owned just sounds better than used

In my retail stores we used the term "Previously Enjoyed".

There's a current YouTube commercial for buying clothing on eBay and they use the term pre-loved.

My bad, I was thinking something else.

I don't know why they use both, when they both mean the same thing.

Have a great day.

Yep. I'd rather my listings say pre-owned.

I'm sure that's why car dealers made that switch from used to pre-owned.

Ebay is not always consistent.

As you can see by my screenshots.....

On your main item listing page it shows PREOWNED..

Once you click the listing it changes to USED.

@janet9988

I never checked the "main" listing page until I posted this here. So I was always seeing used on my listings. Hence, my post.

Thank you for sharing this. I wonder if the powers that be, within Ebay, realized how much better it sounds to be pre-owned so they made that on the "main" view for buyers.

Just trying to learn all I can here as a new seller.
