Having at least one negative is a good thing. *Evidence included

First a disclaimer I should note: This isn't about which kind of buyer messages count as feedback extortion, as defined by eBay.  I think we can all agree that illegitimate complaints in pursuit of partial refunds are frustrating and wrong, with or without the threat of negative feedback.

For anyone who thinks having 100% positive feedback is paramount, and if you didn't see this in a recent thread, here is my opinion.

That was 4 days ago, June 22nd.  The OP of that thread then informed me that I already had  lost my 1 neg, and so I checked, and sure enough I was back to 100% positive for the first time in a year.

-LOL now check this out, and note the date.

Now, I honestly cannot remember the last time I got a message from a buyer expressing any dissatisfaction whatsoever, never mind appearing to fish for a partial refund, never mind naming their price.

But lookie look at what dropped in my lap today!

Now that lot is absolutely ALL sterling silver.  -This buyer is also a reseller like me, and they have simply decided they would like to cherry-pick the pieces that are the most resellable, but that's not how mixed lot sales work, sorry.  And precious metal content aside, any reseller could have tried to extort me for the same (unstated, real) reason with any regular plastic & glass costume jewelry lot, wanting to minimize their investment after the delivery, by claiming some portion of the pieces aren't as good of "quality" as they hoped or whatever.  -And I did have one return based on that complaint several months ago, but it was just a straight return, performed wordlessly, exactly as designed with button-click simplicity, and which I WELCOME.  But I definitely didn't get any non-return messaged complaints during that whole year that I had a neg on my record.

Unfortunately I see zero negs left for others, by this person.  DANG IT!  So I suppose they are probably just going to try to argue, which is exactly why I cannot stand this carp!

I agree with you on point #2.

It seems like many unscrupulous buyers tend to use that way to grind sellers with partial refunds.

If you would like to see evidence of point #1 you can find it in the Buyers forum.  By the way, a lot of them say the same thing about TRS sellers, but I'm keeping that, ha.

If you want to be happy about a neg, that's fine. I found my last neg to be, actually, funny.

But the rest is just bunk.

Sorry (maybe).

ETA: I don't have my feedback scrubbed. 🙄

I am sure some feel that way but me as a buyer, i don't care about the feedback as much as what they are selling. (of course not looking for a sea of red) I know what i buy and understand if it is not what it is, I'll be OK.

Was not saying #1 is wrong but doesn't apply to me.

The gist was that it kvetched that the mint vintage 70s robe she purchased was over-priced because back in the day it was only $22 at some store (it was $28 from me but she decided it was $45 because of tax and shipping), all riven with angst.

I replied that back in the 70s I could live comfortably on $5/hour, too. Then I wished her a Good Christmas (it was that time of year).

Anyway, I've never found that people are gunning for the 100% feedback sellers, and having a neg never changed my sales. I think many people don't actually really notice, much less troll for 100% feedbacks to then do dastardly deeds. It's just making too much of a metric based on subjective opinion, or because the seller made a mistake and it's a heads up. So agree with you about not getting twisted about a neg - it's gonna happen.

Ahhh if only we could still buy things for their 70's prices.

A buyer wishing and I say wishing a $60.00 partial refund...and I say no.

Cool jewelry listings by the way...really nice...and using a ruler and a quarter...you read and listen and do.

Selling a lot of a number of items one can get a crazy buyer. I had a few.

Can I say the buyer does not know how to write a sentence in English...in an English sentence form.

I really hate broken English or whatever that was.

There is a certain typecast of those who always ask for a partial refund...but I prefer not to tell for I will get banned for a day here. LOL.

LOL it is definitely hard to tell non-English primary language speakers apart from regular ole' hillbillies sometimes, that's for sure.

Re: Having at least one negative is a good thing. *Evidence included

Guess it all depends on what you sell. I sell used off-road motorcycle parts and have a very detailed disclaimer on what the seller is buying...ie USED motorcycle parts. I have been on ebay for well over 15 years (two user names) but have been running a used parts biz since like 2012 and had 100% feedbacks due to good decent useable parts. However, I have had some leave neg feedback for various reasons and in my research have learned that 100% of them were buyers with 0-5 feedbacks next to their name. That told me those people in particular have no idea on how buying used parts works on eBay and are more apt to just leave neg feedback instead of reaching out. SO.....for that....I have now added another disclaimer at the beginning of all my descriptions that I will NO longer sell to buyers with 0-5 feedbacks. If I see they still tried to get a sale to go through, I will refund them immediately. I don't give a rats a$$ about what eBay has to say about it either. I have the right to refuse a sale to anyone. I am sick and tired of waiting a full year for a neg feedback to drop off. Total **bleep**. Has anyone else done this or come up with something similar for weak buyers??

(In case this wasn't obvious) - I had replied to them that I would accept a return of the full lot if that is what they would like to do.

I just now got this reply from them.  -Sooooo, is this a low English fluency thing, am I misinterpreting, or do they think I'm gonna do a refund in order to get the lot returned?  🤣😂😆

Needless to say, I am not responding in any way.

-In order to refund them you have to cancel their order.  So what reason do you select from the menu?-

EDIT, never mind, I see you started a whole thread about it.

I would just ask her to open a return so that she can get her mailing label and return the jewellery, and you'll refund promptly when you get it back. Whether she wants you to send her money first would be immaterial, and I would pretend you never read that bit.
