Define 'they' as you wish ... CS, Staff here, policies, other posters, whatever ...
Do 'they' make you feel less like buying, selling, or even posting here? Do you feel 'they' have attacked your personal confidence? Damaged your calm?
Some events of the past few days here have made me pause and wonder if I even want to complete checkout of the $100 plus in items in my cart, 15% or not.

Every time I see a post by eBay employees on what eBay expects and it directly conflicts what eBay's written policy says, it just further confirms what I believe. Nothing eBay management says or does is to be trusted. As a seller that's disturbing. So much so that I pulled all my most expensive items from my stores and now will only sell them locally. Come May, one store is going away which means two get combined and less is offered on eBay.
Had a talk with my partner on which sale has less risk, one $3000
sale or 100 $30.00 transactions? That is the environment eBay has created. Thieves and lying buyers are encouraged, stellar good honest sellers are beaten over the head. The dog can only take so much abuse before when the bone is waved at them they won't come anymore.
Other posters? Their opinion doesn't bother me much. You know what they say about opinions.

I have been more than happy as a buyer, since ebay started protecting us.
Actually the worse thing that happened to me as a buyer, just happened, with the seller mixing up our packages and I got someone else's item. She immediately refunded. So I cannot complain.
Had a couple bumps as a seller, woth only one case ending badly for me, but I learned from it.
As for this board - I will just invoke the 5th.

Also as for buying, I used to browse eBay at night on mobile, when the "glitch" showed up that I could no longer limit my sellers to North America and thereby excluding Chinese sellers (the other filters work, that one does nothing) I pretty much quit buying.
When I am on my desktop I am usually working and don't buy stuff.

No, not so far.
As a buyer, I still shop eBay and enjoy the variety I find here. I check over the seller, usually make the purchase, and am almost always pleased with what I receive. I've always been a careful shopper, even long before eBay, so I rarely have trouble.
As a seller, I just do my thing. Never have had a neg. Only a return or two in all these years. Easy to do and fun as well. I like selling here as it lets me scale up or down or even close shop when needed, making that activity easier to fit into the health circumstances of myself and family's life these days.
Ebay doesn't cause me problems. I read some who have trouble with policy / change / adaptation, but I'm completely used to all of that from a lifetime in retail and dealing with the requirements of landlords, wholesalers, etc. I'm pretty much open to change, as I've experienced it a lot over my years. I learned long ago that there is a lot of truth in the old adage "You snooze, you lose." and also the old words of "Adapt, or die." Lots of past retail efforts taught me the truth of both of those.
The posters on these discussion boards are fine. I really enjoy reading the variety of thought. These forums exist and are used for a reason, so I'm fine with those who want to use discussion boards as complaint departments, soapboxes, entertainment and social gatherings, or general 'schools' of learning. I hit the discussion boards off and on, as my outside life and time allows, but find them interesting most of the time.
I can't see any of the above having much effect on my own personal sense of calm, value, personal confidence or ability. Ebay is just a bit of work, on this particular online platform, open to an enormous segment of population.. all pretty much unknown to me. So, no.. none of that, or *them* has much to do with My Calm.

@chrysylyswrote:Do 'they' (defining as policies) make you feel less like buying, selling...?
They have made me stop selling in certain higher risk categories and move towards other categories. That is not specific to eBay though, that goes for ALL online selling platforms I use.

I have never had any "trust" in Ebay, not as a buyer and not as a seller. I don't trust the internet in general, so why would Ebay be any different?
03-20-2018 11:54 AM
I'm with sweet tea - I don't trust any venue or store. Mistakes will happen, policies may be set which I don't like or agree with but I can either make the best of it or move on. I've been fortunate not to have too many problems as a buyer - but I'm downsizing - and don't purchase too much right now.
The boards - ugh - totally frustrate me. I do get fed up with the incessent whining when we really can't do anything about most of the situations. I get fed up when people are paranoid and feel everyone is talking about them. I get sick of the baiting - because really - we are adults and should act like one. And I get sick of people that don't know what goes on behind the scenes here taking sides.
We're all in this together - we can agree to disagree but the little sniping remarks should end - and I'll include myself in that!

@chrysylyswrote:Re: Have 'they' eroded your trust?
Nope. I still buy, sell and post here just the same as ever.

No. For me, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Ebay has not "eroded" my trust. I will continue to buy, sell and post with no worries.
The 15% one day promotion will come in very handy today, I plan on using it.

ebay as an entity has eroded my trust and faith in ebay.
I understand that ebay is in the business to make money and has to do it any way they can - but I have come to believe that ebay has lost sight of the fact that if sellers, ALL sellers make money - then ebay makes money. But ebay has figured out ways to make money outside of the fvfs and so it appears that ebay continues to feel that the sellers don't have to make money for ebay to make money.
But the negative vibes that ebay has generated over the years through poor policy making has infected the site and it's users to the point that it's us against them instead of a mutual agreeable transaction and if there is a problem, it is treated as a personal attack.
I do not see that attitude on other sites and totally trust them.

That 15% promotion - coming on the heels of the 20% promotion, tells me that ebay sees that sales are really lagging, and can't cover it up anymore and are desperate to boost sales so they can look better at the end of the quarter.

You noticed that too, eh?
