Have Ridiculously High Counter Hits on One Item....

Good morning! I've been selling on eBay for fifteen years, and generally sell the same type of collectible item.  Because of this, I have a fairly tight circle of repeat bidders, with new bidders coming and going all the time.  The other day I looked at my listings and noticed that one of my items, which isn't particularly rare or interesting, has nearly (400) views on the hit counter.   This is completely unusual, since most of my items will get 40-50 views throughout the course of an auction, with a rare item getting closer to (100) hits.  I thought it was a glitch, but the numbers have been rising all weekend.  I don't promote my auctions on interest or Facebook or any outside sources, so what in the world could be making this one item so popular?  (And it doesn't have any bids or watchers, so it's obviously just getting views).   Thanks in advance!

This could be a number of things. Ebay's view count tool is very unreliable. I've had views drop to 0 during auctions, and I've seen listings with more watchers than views!

This could be, for example, something shared on twitter and clicked on by bot accounts. This could be a buyer who has their page set to refresh every few minutes and he could have left the tab open in the background.

Back when we had reliable analytics I would recommend looking that listing up on Omniture to see what's driving the clicks.

It may have gotten picked up by collectors on Pinterest. I do this sometimes with listings I come across that match interests I have on my Pinterest boards.

I do it with perfume bottles, vintage photos, vintage jewelry, art glass, blown glass, collectibles, dolls, etc.

View count is not acturate, so does that effect watch count? I am a very small vendor,

being handicap limits what I can do in a given day but even with slow sales I love the 

the sales game! The supply is far greater on eBay then the current demand. So what is next for us?

The same thing just happened to me! I put up a listing less than 24 hours ago and I have 324 views! No watchers, though. For the first time ever I put "cute" in the title. Maybe people DO search "cute" or "L@@K" lol
