I have a buyer who purchased a couple of razors from me. 3 feedbacks. They are from 1983. I stated they are unused.
She/He contacted me first via messages to ask the model #. I had to go buy a magnifying glass to read it, as it was raised lettering same color as the body at a perculiar location. She verified correct model number but now has photos and says there was hair all over it. That the plug part that goes into the razor is blue. Beings I had to buy a magnifying glass and this is stated within our ebay messages, I know for sure I used it to check the razors over. The photos she has are unbelievable.
Being a Christian, I could really care less what happens but know i need to file a police report and federal mail fraud report because this is a professional. The price is very low as I got them for free anyhow and obvioulsy, it would be easier just to refund her. No biggie but that would be participating in her crimes, abetting her. Thanks for any advice or experience you can share with filing a federal mail fraud report & police report. She is in Northbrook, Illinois

Buyer closed the case after I chose the option to just send a note I had to respond with something. Funds released from that transaction now. I used them to send her a 50% refund.
Justifying me not listing it as used instead of new. Even though it was never used. Not because of the fake photos.
Her closing the case IS NOT the mannarisms of a scammer from my experience. Or at least a scammer with any experience scamming others. They are usually hell bent on winning
I suspect there possibly may have been an issue with the razor, not sure what....but she may have felt the need to exaggerate thus took pics of her old razors. They were so gross. It would've just been easier and honest to ask for a refund due to a change of mind or other reason. It needent be a valid reason. If a Seller is offering refunds, then they are offering refunds. Period.
Refund was done outside of Ebay. Just hit the friends/family button via Paypal. If she is truly poor, I think she will notice there is a bit more $$ in her paypal account or maybe paypal will notify her. I haven't actually had a scammer in at least 2 years now, and 90% of that time the account was top rated. Selling on Ebay the last 5 years or so total.
Thanks for those who offered constructive help and didn't get so enmeshed in this drama ensued within them, I appreciate your time to respond. Hope you hall have a great weekend
If they are a scammer, you will find out soon as they file a paypal dispute to get their original payment for the razors back. And they will get it PLUS the money you sent them through friends and family.
You left yourself open to a double dip. Good luck with that.

I don't think this raises to a crime level. Just say the standard "Refund for Refund".

Um.....where's the theft and mail fraud here? The buyer simply stated the item is full of hair.

You should not have stated new under condition.
Unless this item has been hermetically sealed, it can pick up hair and dust over its 34 years.
Just send return label and accept return.

It is only mail fraud if money is stolen out of my account, against my will. That is also theft
I never deny anyone a refund. That is part of my policy. That is not the issue here.

Maybe we are missing something. How did they steal money from your account?

Its not possible for the buyer to steal the money out of your account against you will. But ebay and paypal can do that. So are you saying you would report ebay for mail fraud and theft? I would suggest you read the user agreement and the money back guarantee.

If you send return shipping label, check off return for refund, and then refnd money once you receive it back, that will be the end of it.
Only if you refuse to cooperate will ebay step in and do it for you.

She provided photos of an item that is not mine. It is of her old razors. She told me she has difficulty finding these. My razors are not blue at the base.
My concern is being set up. She contacted me via messages first. Now she's provided photos of items that do not belong to me. When you pull the cord out of the unit at the base, it is blue. She also says blue gunk came out of it. I pulled cords out of their bases a few times, plugged it in and it worked. It is an older model so was tested very well. Hence I know it wasnt my item.
Don't care about the $$ obvioulsy. But feel really uncomfortable with the sophistication of it all. This is a professional and I cannot in good conscious, reward her for her stealing and lying. I just can't.
Again, if anyone has experience filing these reports, I'd be very interested. Thanks

I might have been wrong in stating new condition. Title says 1983 and body says NOT NEW BUT NOT USED.
Nothing from 1983 is ever really new.
She isn't complaining of dust. She has gross photos that are not of my item. I was set up.

So far it is not mail fraud. If you ask them to return it and they return a different item maybe. Right now it is a item described as NEW
New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item (including handmade items)
How did they steal money from your account?

Just for future reference--it really helps if you provide this kind of info in your opening post 🙂
I don't think she sounds like a "professional". There are youtube videos and websites out there that tell you how to replace your old junk with new junk FOR FREE ON EBAY. Its really no secret how easy it is to buy a brand new item, claim its SNAD and return your old used broken junk & get a full refund.
Many many sellers have filed those reports and it appears nothing comes of it. We hear of sellers fling the reports all the time but very rarely does anyone come back and tell us that any action was ever taken against the buyer. This BUYER did come back with an update about his SELLER, whom he reported to the USPS and the attorney general--http://community.ebay.com/t5/Bidding-Buying/My-scammer-was-caught/m-p/27491029
Ebay does revoke buyer protection privileges when the buyer has a pattern of filing too many cases, but usually the buyers that come here and complain about it had filed too many INRS.

Obviously it hasn't happened yet.
Please actually read my posts, thanks! 🙂

No one stole money out of my account yet
It seems she hasn't replied. I suspect I will not hear anything further from her.
Funny thing is, all she needed to do was ask for a refund. I've never denied anyone a refund. My issue is the lying and sophistication of it all. Emailing me prior to set me up. The photos are clearly of her old razors. Anyhow I suppose a cop coming to her house and a report of mail fraud isn't worth it to her to scam me. Pretty sure I'll not hear anything further from her nor receive bad feedback.
