Hello fellow sellers!
I am looking to get some input. We are looking to create a listing for our ring sizing service so customers can add that to a listing. As of right now, they email us requesting a sizing and we add the sizing cost to their invoice. It would be much more simple if they could just purchase the sizing themselves through a separate listing! A few questions about this:
1. We sell a ring- also sell a sizing through a separate listing, do both the ring and the ring sizing need tracking numbers??
2. How would that affect the shipment rate?
3. Should you have an extended handling time on those items to help with the possibly affected shipment rate?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Is selling a ring sizing service anything like selling balloons and then sell the color of the balloons as a separate listing?

Not quite! It would be selling the service of changing the current ring size to whatever the customer needs. Thanks for your input!

@twincitygoldmaine, you can always manually enter a Tracking # into more than one transaction -- that's what you do when you have a situation where a buyer bought more than one item from you that can be packaged together and shipped. Doing so will have no effect on your shipment rate at all.
As far as handling time, I would pad your ring only listings handling a bit so that if a buyer also wanted the ring sized, you won't get dinged because the ring only listing appeared to be shipped late. Your straight ring buyers (no sizing) would just get their purchases sooner than expected which I'm sure they wouldn't complain about.

Why don't you do what I see all other sellers doing.
In the description - If you need the ring sized - it is an added $50 charge.
Tell them if they want it sized, let them know and you will send them your own invoice.

That would be a fee circumvention violation.

Every single seller who I come across - if you want a ring size change or a certificate of authenticity does it that way.
To be honest, if it were me and you are selling fine jewelry, I just build it into the cost.
Seems petty for a person to lay down $3,000 on a piece of jewelry and nickel and dime him on sizing.

Sounds like a smart plan to me.
