HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

I have been on ebay since 2001 with 100% perfect feedback as a seller- I recently sold a pair of glasses to a member in Thailand, he was told approximately 6-10 delivery time. On day 10 he told me he had not received package so it was lost and he knew it would never arrive. He has already filed a claim and PP has attempted to deduct from my account.

The member has 17 transactions and he has left negative feedback for almost 10 transactions all claiming not to have recieved items or gotten them in poor condition.

The member is a criminal and is scamming ebay seller, what are you doing about this ebay ?

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS EBAY ???

Do you have any kind of tracking on the package?

You can and should report this buyer.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

Do you have any sort of tracking showing it's in transit? If you do then call eBay and ask them for an extension period. If the claim was made on PayPal you could try them first for the extension.

Which service did you use for the package?

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

Hello- No I will only put a tracking number on a package of a buyer asks me. I have rarely used them and have never had a package go missing, I believe this member neglected to ask for a tracking number for the simple reason he could easily claim to have never received the package and make a claim to get money back. I do have the post office receipt though.

I am simply waiting at this time.

Thank You for replying to me.

I will post here any updates and if wanted I will post the members user name.

Op,  Only tracking proves delivery.

And you cannot post the user id as that is against Board policy.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

When I sell I have a tracking number and insurance, for my protection and peace of mind. The extra shipping cost has already been figured into my selling price. I rather suspect he indeed hopes the money will be refunded and then the package will be delivered. Sadly you will not even be able to prove it has been delivered. I would definitely report him. Good luck.

Without tracking there's not much you can do but refund the buyer.

Have a great day.

Bingo. Not using tracking can and occasionally does attract the scammers. That's why most of us DO cover our shipments with tracking. If this costs you more as a seller then you add it to your price.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

Your tracking number is the Customs number on your Post Office receipt. Plug it in to the tracking form at usps.com and tell us what you find out.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

Umm.... You claim to be a veteran seller, but you don't seem to realize that tracking exists for the seller's benefit, not the buyer's. If you expect Seller Protection to cover you, you need to have tracking on what you ship, regardless of what the buyer wants or does not want. Tracking protects you.

If you shipped a pair of sunglasses to a Thailand, then you probably used First Class Parcel service, which should have E-DELCON delivery confirmation. Maybe it doesn't if you buy postage at the counter instead of online.

In short, eBay and USPS give you a useful tool to protect yourself against phony INR claims, but it sounds like you didn't use it.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

That is why I no longer ship internationally, I used to but there are countries that have no tracking like Russia. Instead I just quit altogether. I have sold all over the world and never had a problem until last year and I had a streak of them.

That's true. Using the customs ID number should serve the purpose.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

There is tracking from and to Thailand, I use it a lot. But sometimes items go missing and/or take their time. I have a late package right now from there and am hoping it shows up.

Re: HELP malicious buyer is extorting me

This is why I only use the global shipping program. USPS insurance is no longer valid once it leaves the U.S. The only way to get eBay to back you is to use the global shipping program they offer. I had a package get tied up in turkish customs for over 30 days once. When I did not use the program. The guy got a refund and the part was eventually delivered to him. Leason learned for me.
