HELP eBay promising next day ship without telling me!

OMG! WHAT DO I DO NOW?! ?!

Ok so a new buyer "always the problem ones" just opened a case over an item that SHOULD NOT BE DUE YET! But was! I find out ebay cut the eta to ONE DAY after ship! WHY!?!?!?! How is this legal! I looked at my other sales and found more like this! WHAT DO I DO! Why is this happening! Plus we all know eBay is using covid19 as an excuse to shut down all seller help! Who can I call now!? is anyone an attorney??

So I looked one problem case up. I sold a model building kit on Oct 7. I make them to order fresh unless requested- so handling time is listed as 15 days "Time I need to batch build everything and post process etc." this order needs to be out by oct 22. I beat that date and shipped oct.20! My free econ ship is 10 business days. ETA should be Nov1. Ebay went ahead and promised the buyer WITHOUT TELL ME an eta of OCT22!!!!! OMG!!! Why is this happening! is this going on with anyone else? FREE shipping is NOT next day shipping! I'm being robbed! A handful of orders have been shorted like this! What do I do????

Not much you can do about the items already sold. To help prevent this in the future, go to the "Shipping details" section on your listing page and click on the "Handling time" drop down box and select the number of days that will give you a cushion to get your items ready to ship. If you are in MP you might want to select a longer handling time as there may be a delay between the buyer paying and you actually getting the money in your bank account. I use 10 days and that works for me, Good luck.

@catloaftrains  I see you say that you set your handling time at 15 days to give you the time you need to make the item.  How often does it take less time than that and your orders ship earlier than that 15 day handling time?  If you often ship earlier, that may be the problem oddly enough.

eBay, in their infinite wisdom doesn't do something as simple as Seller Handling Time + Average Carrier Days In Transit For Location & Service Selected = Estimated Delivery Date Shown To Buyer.

Instead, eBay has said they base the delivery date shown to the buyer on many things, including your historical handling/shipping times.  So if you have a 3 business day handling time set just to give yourself a little extra time in case you can't make it to the post office, but normally you ship next day, eBay will base their delivery estimate to the buyer on that historical 1 day time instead of the actual setting.

There are a ton of posts here in the community of sellers complaining about how this sets unrealistic expectations and provides a terrible experience for buyers, but eBay doesn't seem to care - they continue to manipulate the delivery date shown to buyers instead of just going with a straightforward calculation of seller handling time plus average days in transit based on carrier, service, and location.

At various times I have seen eBay reps say that if you set your handling time at 10 days or more it should stop them from using the "historical" time instead, but I have also seen reports like yours that would seem to contradict that.
