HELP! How do I get out from under this???

A couple of days ago I went through my listings that weren't selling and ended them, maybe a dozen or so. Somehow eBay relisted one of the listings and I woke up this morning to find it had been sold. I donated that item to Goodwill! I made a mad dash to Goodwill and they (there were 5 items) had all been sold. Found a helpful employee who said she remembers them being set out so no chance they were still in the back room...she looked anyway.

I am prepared to grovel to the buyer but that doesn't change the fact that I'm unable to cancel the listing for the rest of them. It was set up as quantity of 5, selling individually. The problem...they don't show up in my listings. The item is a mug by The Abbey of Gethsemani. Pull up my lisitings (bearswatching) and they don't show up. Do a search for that item and there they are, showing a quantity of 5, 1 sold. Since the only way I can cancel them is from my listings I have no way to get rid of them. Help! A thought, I've never done a sell similar. Would that solve my problem?

I tried that. I changed the quantity to 0 and when I go to the bottom to submit that the radio button is grayed out.

@bearswatching  In your Manage Active Listings page instead of looking for it in the Summary list tab,  have you tried searching for it under the Search tab?  If you can find it that way it should give you the End Item action.

Your terminology above is not matching what I see when I go into Edit the quantity on a listing so trying to understand how you're doing it.  I see a large blue Update Listing button but you're talking about a "radio button" when you try to submit.  What radio button?  It may help us help you better understanding where you are.

They refer to the submit or what ever it is on the end of editing page to being greyed out.

It will not allow an edit .

Re: HELP! How do I get out from under this???

There is the problem. Because I ended the listing it no longer shows up when I look at my active selling list. You are probably seeing something different as a user, not the seller. If it did show up in my active listings I could just move to the right and under more actions, end the listing. I don't have that option since I ended the listing. The problem is, without my knowledge, eBay reinstated the listing (isn't this a known "glitch"). Apparently the listing shows up for you when you specifically search under my ID but it doesn't show up in my eBay under active listings. One has already sold (which I no longer have) and it is showing 4 more available. Without this showing up in My eBay under active selling I have no way to end it. I tried to reset the quantity to 0 but it won't accept a number less than one. They also show up under a specific search for the items (Abbey Gethsemani Monastary Mug) and there is the big problem. I dread trying to explain this to a CS. I'm unsure how to page a blue. Can someone help with this? Many thanks to those who have attempted to help.

Try logging out, clearing your browser and logging back in.

As for the blues it seems to be posting there user name flags them but I am not sure.

Go to your Site Preferences and turn on the "Out of stock" option. Then you probably will have the option to set the quantity available to zero.  This won't actually end the listing, but it will block purchases. As a desperate drastic measure, you could increase the price by $100 so nobody will want them..

Well: going to a high price might have the opposite effect and that could get ugly.. You never know with people.

Re: HELP! How do I get out from under this???

I can't find an "out of stock" link in my site preferences. Is that because I don't have a store?

I had a feeling I was doing that wrong but I don't usually sell in quantities I wasn't sure. Won't do that again and thanks for letting me know.

@bearswatching

site preferences.

Open it. Should be the 1st selection.

Put a check in the box.

Remember it will apply to "all" listings, so even when you sell out the GTC will renew it every month charging/using a listing even though a zero stock OOS item is not searchable by buyers.

OOS is for any seller. No store required.

Re: HELP! How do I get out from under this???

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind, and hopefully won't need it anymore. I still can't find an out of stock option in my site preferences. I managed to end the listing by changing the price to $500. That sent it back into active as far as my records show and I ended it from there. I'm going to diligently watch for any more eBay automatic relistings. That's what started thus whole problem. Thanks again to all who responded. Two of my friends have had the same relisting problem but luckily caught them before they sold . High tech my Aunt Fanny. 🙂

Here's the help page about the out of stock option:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/listing-tips/bulk-listings?id=4160#section4

And here's how to get to it to turn it on/off. I got an "intermediate" page after the first click (the red arrow at top left) but I just clicked on "Site preferences" on that page (over on the right, instead of on the left as shown here by the second red arrow middle left) to get to this page. I don't have a store, and this worked for me just now.
