Ebay buyer let me know the item was "Delivered" but that it wasn't to her house. Has Fedex delivery image showing it at a different looking doorstep and has provided me a photo of her doorstep. $280 item, not insured for more than standard that comes with Fedex Home delivery. Box in photo is the box I used, no foul play suspected and buyer has opened an inquiry with Fedex.
I advised checking the nearby streets she is adjacent to as about 5 or more streets in that neighborhood all have similar house numbers.
I did nothing wrong here, the buyer hasn't done anything wrong here, so how should this get handled if I want to maximize the amount of money I hang onto?

Just a side story.......
I live at 255, when I get a notice from FedEx/UPS/Amazon of a delivery but when I check my front door it's not there I don't call anyone but I do walk down the street to #225 where I can always find my package.
When I have a problems with my phone/internet and am told "a tech is on the way", I wander out to the sidewalk and look down the street to #225 if I want to see the truck arrive.
225/255 dyslexia is rampant!
Fedex should have geotagging and can figure out exactly where the delivery took place, hopefully they can retrieve it.
Maybe you can figure it out yourself using Google Street view if there are some readily identifiable things in the delivery image.

You would think that if they plan to photograph the package on the porch as proof of delivery they would at least include the house number in the shot if possible. Otherwise the photo doesnt really prove much of anything. Hopefully geolocation will track it down if Fedex is cooperative enough. This is technically the buyers problem since you have a Delivered status on the tracking number but it does stink that Fedex messed up on the delivery.

I have had this happen to me and I called FedEx/UPS immediately (press whatever buttons that will get you a human) and hopefully they can communicate with the driver to double back. That is obviously if you just caught this today.

Yesterday actually. The geotagging possibility would be nice. Hopefully it is nearby and whoever got it realizes that some car trim molding is of no use and they do the right thing and drop it off where it should go. We'll see what happens and I'll post an update if it may help the community.

You are still responsible for refunding the buyer if the item is not located and then it will be your responsibility to go after Fedex. And good luck with that, especially since you did not have insurance.

Har! I can't believe I just read this, because Monday is the same day that my sister reported what has to be the FedEx Misdelivery of the Month. She opened her front door and found this:
This mountain of packages was supposed to go to a local community center one block over. Their street number is the same as my sister's house, but the street names are very different. (Okay, they both start with the letter D, but still...🙄)
She didn't bother calling FedEx. She phoned the community center instead and they came rushing over with a van. She lives in an area popular with porch thieves (she gets her own packages shipped to my son's address), so hopefully no one helped themselves to any boxes before these were recovered. The pile extended almost halfway to the street.

At least they left the packages to a responsible person like yourself. Not to make a laughing matter but Merry Christmas

Looks like the big ones got thrown over the fence, and then moved again once all off the truck.
Just think, someone will still be getting their paycheck after doing that delivery.

I have the problem where the first three letters of my street are exactly the same as the first three letters of the street two blocks over, so we get a lot of mixed up packages, food deliveries, etc. for the same house number on the other street. Fortunately the residents of the same house number on the other street are good sports and always bring stuff over, and we do the same for them! The number of times we have had their pizza delivery guys show up on our doorstep over the years...

Fedex is the absolute worst delivery company. I waited 3 weeks for a package as it bounced around the country. it was delivered yesterday but to my next door neighbors house. She brought it over that same day.
Fedex is a joke and should be banned from anyone every using it again. They hire the most inept, illiterate doped up drug users who couldn't find there fill in the blanks.

I get Fed Ex packages a lot. Fed Ex usually doesn't just leave a package at the door. They ring my doorbell and I come down 4 flights of stairs to get the package. I never heard of a Fed Ex driver taking a photo of a package at someone's door...but I live in San Francisco. I kinda like Fed Ex and never got a package incoming lost from them.

As I can follow the FedEx packages I often meet the driver at the door, or in the yard.. Sometimes they are a bit early for me. My regular FedEx driver puts packages in my garage when I'm not out. Irregulars leave them by the garage door, or between the storm, and the inner door. Saturday woman leaves them in the parcel box out by the road. Pretty rural, but I try to scoot on out to get them.
I did not know of, and usually do not get photos, but after reading here on the boards back a bit I did see one of mine got a photo.

I've had only one package go missing in the 28 years I've lived in my home. FedEx guy swears he delivered it, but offered up no proof. The sender reimbursed me for the contents, but it was a meal subscription box, so I was out of groceries for the week. (I was trying to avoid grocery stores during the pandemic.)
The next time he delivered, he stacked two quite heavy boxes on top of each other and then had to go out of his way (physically) to put them on top of a fairly flimsy deck box (you know, like you put patio furniture cushions in). Broke all the plastic hinges off the box lid.
Since then, I check with vendors to determine which carrier service they use, and I won't place an order with a company that uses FedEx.

I think the OP will still win the INR dispute because the street address is not verified. You just need delivery to the City and ZIP of the address received with the payment.
