Check your seller preferences to see if you have been opted into Guaranteed Delivery. I checked and was shocked to find that ebay is opting me into programs that I want nothing to do with.

Keep any eye on it, @jonathankirkland. A GD section didn't show up in my Site Preferences for weeks, so I thought I was in the clear. Then BAM. this weekend it was there. No notice at all. Had I not gone into my Site Preferences to check on something else I would have never known my account had been hit.

Previous threads have stated that if you have not yet been "opted in" it will not appear for you to "opt out"
Now here is something that I have seen before.
Odd that it suddenly happens it the middle of this thread.
The "notification", if that is what they call it, was not there earlier. A June 4 message popping up in the May section. How many days did it take the message to make it through the interweb.
eBay IT at its best. This post should result in my sales dropping all the way to "0". Will be a quiet impact, as they have fallen to hover just above "0" as it is.

I opted out, as you did, stating I did not trust the carriers to guarantee their delivery time! Therefore, how can I commit to a promise I can not keep:)
This is why I opted out, I will not guarantee something I can not control. I ship clothing and use mostly FC, few items get delivered in 3 days. I will not spend hours on the phone trying to get bad FB or defects removed.

That was my experience.
I was not given the option to "opt out" until after I had already been "opted in".
Unethical IMHO.

@jonathankirkland, You have to click the tab to SHOW ALL on the right hand side and give it a second to open up all your preferences.

Ebay needs to give users the ability to opt individual listings in/out without having to update s/h to do it. I was opted in over the weekend and all but 4 of my listings are showing it. I have a few heavier items I'd like to not show it. Not that I'm going to stay in it, but I figure I'll wait a week or two just to see if it makes any noticeable difference in sales before opting out.

I just received the message in my eBay a few minutes ago that I was opted in. I opted out and said as long at the P.O. can't guarantee my buyers when they will receive their packages, I have no clue why eBay thinks they can. Nope. Not happening here.

When eBay opts you in, they put you under the "handling time" option; i.e., you just have to ship on time. You're not responsible for late delivery:
"If the buyer paid for shipping and the item arrives after the guaranteed delivery date, as long as you’ve met your handling time and ensured the package was scanned at the post office or by your carrier, we’ll refund the buyer’s shipping cost or pay for their return label if they no longer want the item.
If shipping was free and the item arrives after the guaranteed delivery date but the buyer wants to keep the item, we’ll send them an eBay voucher. We’ll also handle all customer service queries related to late delivery with this option."

We were put in GD.
We were notified.
With the new changes, we have no idea what to do.
Listing new things today and wavered.
Want to put no returns.
But, if ebay doesn't show my items, it doesn't matter.
Sales are so slow anyway....
Such a lot of worry, on top of all the work.

I notice the choices do not include the right answer, oh ebay, aren't you funny, not!
The reasons you can chose from for opting out include "I didn't mean to opt in" as if it was my error.
The choice "ebay opted me in without my consent and I revoke it" was not there, so I wrote it in "other". 😛

What are the benefits to opting out? Will there be some sort of penalty? Say 6 months out?

Maybe I am wrong but this all seems a lot of fuss and feathers for nothing. I got opted in because my shipping, delivery and all that was consistent with what i said I would do. BUT with 3 day handling and a choice of parcel or priority NONE of my listings actually qualify.
Big deal. So I am opted in. So if I list something that qualifies it will show guaranteed. Otherwise eh.

1 day handling as I look at it rather than 3 day is that I get 1 more piece of stuff taking up space out the door that much sooner..clutter might be too harsh of word for a valuable item to somebody
