Guaranteed Delivery Program?? Nothing Is Guaranteed in Life!

Just a quick share with an example of why this program is a bad idea. Shipped 8 packages on April 30, One was Priority 2 mail going from RI to illinois, Today is May 2nd and where is this package? Just landed at Phoenix Arizona sort Facility? They flew it right by illinois to the West coast. I could give one example a week at least that Nothing Is Guaranteed!

Well, for starters, the Post Office does not guarantee any delivery date with Priority Mail.  Only in eBayLand would someone guarantee something provided by a third party that the third party themselves will not guarantee.

Calling an empty promise "guaranteed" is a bad business plan, but eBay's corporate motto seems to be "Over-promise & Underperform".

I often ask myself...isn't "guaranteed delivery" a GIVEN?...It's NOT a selling point.

It's tantamount to saying..."Buy my brand of rice...it's PACKAGED".

Nothing Is Guaranteed!

Only if we ignore the meaning of the term "guaranteed".  A guarantee doesn't claim that it's impossible for something else to happen; it promises that if something else happens, you will receive some consideration.

As such, Guaranteed Delivery doesn't affect when your package will actually arrive at its destination.  It instead promises that you will receive compensation if it arrives after the promised date.

I opted in before Christmas, and quickly realized it was a bad idea when buyers started wanting refunds when they didn't get their stuff in 3 days.  They seemed to think you have control over the PO.
