I've been making this post every January/February for years. eBay raises fees again. Match that with unreasonable rate increases from the post office and looking back just a few years ago, between the rising costs of inventory, shipping, supplies, and fees, you have to sell twice as much to make the same amount of money while executives are rolling in the dough. Anything to appease stockholders who eBay prioritizes over their sellers. If only there was legitimate competition. When eBay first switched from PayPal to Managed Payments, fees were 11.7% & 30 cents. Now they are 12.7% & 40 cents. Just a few more years and fees will be over 20% and it will cost $12 to ship a 4 oz item through USPS. Enjoy the last of it before it is no longer profitable. Buyers won't pay more for your items before your fees are higher. And if eBay ever starts buyer fees like a certain other platform did, we are all doomed.

SAD that they are not doing enough to attract more buyers on here and with the competition being so darn fierce for them it’s inevitable that they have to raise the fees to compensate for less and less sales. That’s my take on this. A company in competition with so many other websites needs to help the sellers keep their prices down to compete. Not here.

The buyer fees would be the end of this platform. Buyers have too many other choices where they do not have to do that.

They can play this out with the stockholders as long as they can until the end of this platforms existence. It’s been short term goals always on here. A lot of reactionary stuff short term. The internet landscape changes quite quickly.

yes, for years every Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr/May/Jun/Jul/Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec we are doomed on eBay as it will crumble before our very eyes, but yet here we still are.
I take it that as you are not "greedy" you will absorb the changes and not increase any costs to your buyers.

Ebay squeezing the life out of sellers. Fees, Fees and more fees. Cross list and migrate to other platforms to survive

The poster needs to do what everybody HAS to do. If fees are up the costs and prices go up.

I assume with these posts that people haven't tried other selling platforms. Every single one has fees. A few are so high it makes eBay's fees seem very low. So I don't want the fees to go higher, but I also know that eBay is the most consistent platform for us for selling. We sell on 4 other platforms. The traffic on them is way lower, and the purchases are way lower and the fees are all higher. Sure, nobody wants eBay to get more of "our money"... but what are the options? Good luck finding better
"Greedy eBay"... I guess they should be more like goodwill who... oh wait, they are a "non for profit" but somehow keep raising their prices on the merchandise that they don't even pay for... now that is a discussion worth having

You have a great point there as active users go down on here every year.

@vintagecraze50 and then sales on eBay go down because apparently they think consumers only price compare across the platform so it will all wash out, ignoring the reality that both buyers and sellers compare prices across this entire big crazy thing called the world wide web and both will go elsewhere if they can find a better deal. 🤦

Yes, I will have to admit that Ebay has done a fine job of not raising the fees that much each time. The other platforms are Struggling and dying at a faster rate and that is why their fees are more extravagant. Still keeping on with ebay, till it is no more.

When Pay Pal processed payments, total fees were around 13%.

Temu is sucking the life out of a lot of platforms as well.

The other massive amount of websites are sucking the life out of ebay.

It is funny, I have been on eBay since 1999 and see more and more posts on here about eBay ending. Really? They will end just because they are raising fees like... USPS, FedEx, Amazon, UPS, Mercari, Poshmark, Etsy, Facebook Marketplace... I could go on and on... I'm not happy they are raising, but everything everywhere is going up and trying to get a cut
