Got an email on "Grace Period ending Soon"

I got this email message and I don't know what this means (I'm a real novice).  I recently suspended my account for a while due to a bad car accident.  Do I need to do something?

Thanks,

Jana

Your grace period ends soon

Hi Jana,

We see that you have a great track record as a Top Rated Seller, but recently you didn’t meet one or more of the sales, volume or tracking upload goals set for all Top Rated Sellers in the US region.

We know that sometimes things come up. That’s why we're giving you some extra time - until Jun 20, 2025 - to meet these goals again.

During this grace period we'll continue to evaluate your seller performance on the 20th of every month to see whether you're eligible to be a Top Rated Seller again. Just make sure you upload tracking on 90% of all your US transactions and continue to meet all other Top Rated Seller requirements. Visit your seller standards dashboard regularly to track your progress.

We hope this extra time helps. As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Here are the basics:

  • Transaction Volume & Sales: You need at least 100 transactions and $1,000 in sales with US buyers in the past 12 months.

  • Performance Standards: You need to meet the following metrics:
    • Defect Rate: Less than or equal to 0.5%, with no more than 3 defects from unique buyers.

    • Cases Closed Without Seller Resolution: Less than or equal to 0.3%.

    • Late Shipment Rate: Less than or equal to 3%.

    • Tracking Uploads: At least 95% of US transactions with tracking uploaded within the stated handling time and validated by the carrier.

We can't see your account to know which of the requirements for Top Rated Seller you're short on, but you should take a look at your Seller Level here: https://sellerstandards.ebay.com/dashboard?region=US

That should break down those requirements that @lakefor94 listed and show you where you stand in relation to each one.  You may just not have had enough transactions, since you had to take a break, or you could have a high rate for your "Tracking uploaded on time and validated" since the message references that.

@seacostume

It means what it is actually says.  You have fallen below one of the requirements for being TRS.  Ebay gives us a grace period when this happens, and you are nearing the end of yours.

From the email:

"...recently you didn’t meet one or more of the sales, volume or tracking upload goals set for all Top Rated Sellers in the US region."  That means you either have not had enough sales to qualify for TRS OR you haven't been uploading your tracking as you should on your sales.

Qualify as a Top Rated Seller

To become a Top Rated Seller, you must meet the following guidelines:

  • An eBay account that’s been active for at least 90 days.
  • 100 or more transactions and $1,000 in sales during the last 12 months with US buyers.
  • A defect rate less than or equal to 0.5%, with three or fewer defects from unique buyers.
  • Cases closed without seller resolution less than or equal to 0.3%, and two or fewer cases.
  • A late shipment rate less than or equal to 3%, and five or fewer late shipments.
  • Tracking uploaded within your stated handling time, and carrier validation for 95% of transactions to US buyers.

Once you meet these requirements, we will automatically upgrade you to the Top Rated Seller status at your next evaluation.

The email further states you have until June 20th to fix whatever the issue is.

You can also review your Seller Hub, more specifically your Seller Dashboard for a more detailed view of your seller standings.  This is something you should check at a minimum of weekly, but often is best for you so you can see if you are heading for trouble in most of the stats that Ebay collects on sellers.  The email also tells you to do this.  "Visit your seller standards dashboard regularly to track your progress."

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You can still sell just fine without having TRS status.   You probably didn't meet the volume requirement, since you were busy healing from your accident.  It's nothing to worry about.  You'll probably get it back when you become active again.  I hope you're doing better!

I got something like that the other day for my UK sales. I get those messages when my UK sales drops in the current evaluation period, and they're encouraging me to make more sales to retain my top rated status.

You can still sell without top rated, you'll get it back when your volume of sales increases.

Hope you are recovering well.

C.

You will be bumped down to Above Standard which is no big deal. I am in that category because I do not have a large volume of sales.
