So it’s probably about time to quit eBay. It would not matter on raising the price on shipping ( I’ve tried and items just don’t sell), and the value of the item is correct. But this picture explains enough on a $1 item. Shipping is between $5-6 Say if I offered free shipping 😒 Unless someone has suggestions. I’m all for it.

$1.00 Sell price
-$.35 Listing fee
-$.30 Credit card swipe fee
-$.78 Final Value fee
=====
-$.43 Net profit
Hold on to this item until the market value increases to the cover price of $3.95

You are right selling fees can eat up all your profit. Rarely can you make any profit selling items under $25. You should combine items and to raise value of your sale.
Also, having auctions with starting price of 99 cents is a losing proposition if you only get one bidder. Better to have starting price at the lowest price you are willing to accept.

"...But this picture explains enough on a $1 item..."
let's show the REAL details for this transaction
Sale Price $6.07 (1.00+5.00+.07)
Less FVF (-) $1.08
Sub-Total $5.06
Shipping (-)$3.65
Net PROFIT (before COG) $1.41
So, you sold something for $1.00 and pocketed $1.41
not bad

The lowest I will price my items is $14.99 with like only two or three exceptions where I went down to $9.99.
Sometimes I have low price items that I have to sell in lots of multiples in order to make it so it will actually sell for those prices. You should sell a lot of 10-20 comics together.

Don't Sell Anything Under $10, I Am Slowly Doing That Myself, & Even At $10 It's Not Great, But Make Bundles In Order To Increase Your Prices!, It's The New & Improved, But For Sellers It May Be New, But Not Improved!

Flawed "business model".
How would anyone every expect to make enough selling an item for $1 to make it worth their time.
Even with "zero" fees, and zero COGs, it makes no sense to sell something for $1
The $1 items I put out in my "yard sale" do not even warrant me being outside to get that $1. $1 goes in a can on the table.

Better yet. pile them up and donate somewhere. Take the total against your taxes. It's a lot less work.
