GoDaddy retiring online bookkeeping

Just got the following email from GoDaddy.  Of course, that is the service I use.  I hate change.

Online Bookkeeping will retire in 30 days.

After much consideration, we've made the decision to discontinue Online Bookkeeping on June 18, 2022. At that time, the Online Bookkeeping tool will stop importing transactions from your connected channels and your existing data will be archived. To provide you with the best possible experience going forward, we've partnered with Intuit to offer you a special discount on QuickBooks Online.

You have until September 30 to download your Online Bookkeeping content. You can either move your data to QuickBooks using our migration tool or export your .csv file and import it to another accounting platform. You'll receive a prorated return for any time remaining on your term.

We appreciate your business and are here to help make your transition as smooth as possible.

Anyone have experience with QuickBooks, good or bad?

I dont know how big your account it but DO NOT go to quickbooks. I've been putting the interface through the ringer for the last 12-15 hours while trying to figure out the best option for my store as well. Its $20 a month with the discount for the simple plan. The eBay integration only pulls 3 months worth of data which is not helpful considering we are at month 5 nearly 6 of the year. On top of that the integration tool has left out numerous sales made the last 3 days on my account and im trying to fix it now. Its WAAAY to complex for my needs and requires an over abundance of clicking and selections. I have no idea why so many people use this as my accountant doesnt even require a fraction of the information required to input a sale manually on QB. Ill be cancelling my subscription this weekend. Currently building an excel worksheet to log expenses and other things into. I already input selling fees and shipping costs into an excel with my inventory listed. My store is medium sized with about $200,000 in gross revenue and around 1300-1500 items listed at any point.

Learn excel and dont give QB your money just so you have to do a lot of work. Thats my opinion fwiw.

It is probably a good thing you are doing that as I assume you needed the inventory function. From Quickbooks help pages, inventory can be a problem if you have not listed SKU numbers for all of your eBay inventory items. Quickbooks will assign an inventory SKU for any items that do not have one and because the item now no longer matches what is listed on eBay then they won't capture the sales. A nightmare I avoided by opting for the lesser version.

Its a mess. I just cancelled it after less than 48 hours up & numerous chats with tech folks there. Was already encountering bugs they had to fix just to sync eBay account & it still didnt pull all of my sales from the last 24hours. On top of that apparently it doesn't account for eBay fees like listing fees and final value fees because i was missing many of mine and had none for many recent transactions which is insane.

Does anyone know anything about Xero or Easy Auction tracker?  Just waiting before I decide where to go and how to save my data.  Does Open Office have excel access?  I've been using Go Daddy for at least 3 years and I'm really dreading moving to another service.

So if I get quick books I don't have to have excel? I am so confused, just starting out to choose a new service.

@d.amber  Open office has Calc which is their version of Excel.  It's supposed to be fine and if I used Open Office I would have no hesitation using it.

I switched to quickbooks when the announcement came and quickly canceled.  Quickbooks is a mess and has the worst interface I have seen in a piece of software you have to pay money for...  Let's hope someone acquires go daddy bookkeeping or they spin it off or someone develops a similar product.

Ebay should acquire GoDaddy bookkeeping and integrate it into stores.

As of today I am beginning To be able to get the data categorized but still today the ebay data is not coming in like it should. I see no data for shipping charges which we pay for on ebay from Fed Ex. I went back to GODaddy to get 1/2 years worth of data transferred over. Wish me luck on that. Just in case, I printed everything I could from the past 6 months and even for a small business that was 40 pages of data. At least I know that data is already categorized for easy recognition. So far today on Quickbooks it’s still an unorganized mess.

I totally agree on their setup being EXTREMELY UNUSER FRIENDLY. I have a master’s degree, not in accounting but at least a fairly high level of intelligence and this app would be difficult for a rocket scientist with a computer and bookeeping degree. It is the way the darn thing is layed out.

The synch with ebay is terrible for us . We use an IPad exclusively and there seems to be problems with that.
