Getting scammed on USPS International shipping? What eBay isnt telling you...

OK, so we have a new postal inspector general as of 2 years ago.. some know this, others dont.

This guy is a controversy with many because hes a bigtime Trump donor (I could give 2 craps) and has a questionable background in the private sector (well duh), including owning points in a private parcel contractor that reportedly has been awarded very lucrative government contracts.

Anyways, under this guys leadership, full tracking information from point A to point B doesnt exist anymore. Apparently this quietly stopped sometime last year in early 2020 and ebay told no one...

So now, if an international buyer says they never got it and you wont have any proof it did, guess what happens... (you already know the answer here.)

Full Refunds with absolutely hesitation.

Now, with that said, try finding this information ANYWHERE in the ebay forums (which GOTTA be mined, all search results are spun in ebays favor...for some reason they dont want us to know this???)

Check it out for yourself next time you ship International...theres no delivery confirmation anymore.

This is a HUGE development for sellers that many of us had no clue about until it was too late and another layer of **bleep** we gotta deal with.

Now to add to the confusion, I just sold a model kit to Canada as a Global Shipping Program item...and instead of sending it to the Erlanger KY distribution center, it tells me to ship directly to Canada now...

Seriously what the F--K is the ACTUAL international shipping policies?

I just spent an hour on the phone with 2 of ebays reps telling me they"arent magicians" and still could not give me a straight answer.

Did I miss a memo or something?

Does ANYONE know how to get around this? Its like ebay knowingly is setting me up for a scam and not having the decency to even give me a heads up... what the hell?

Last time I tried sending a question ebay wouldnt let me (after accepting me into the forums)

NEVER A STRAIGHT ANSWER... EVER!

Some countries are no longer part of the international tracking system. That was not a secret. The policies and procedures of the USPS are a matter of public record.

The model kit was not GSP. It was eBay International Standard Delivery.

I looked up a few of my eBay International Delivery Services orders for September and they all have tracking/delivery confirmation.

The Electronic Delivery Confirmation program, also known as E-DELCON, allows participating countries to update USPS tracking for packages that are shipped internationally. In most cases, this results in door-to-door tracking... although some countries may not update the tracking as reliably, even though the packages are still en route for delivery.

List of Countries with E-DELCON tracking, updated February 2021

  • Australia

  • Belgium

  • Canada

  • Croatia

  • Cyprus

  • Denmark

  • Estonia

  • France

  • Germany

  • Gibraltar

  • Hong Kong

  • Iceland

  • Indonesia

  • Israel

  • Japan

  • Lebanon

  • Luxembourg

  • Malaysia

  • Netherlands

  • New Zealand

  • Poland

  • Portugal

Yes this last 30 days I have lost $500+ and the product due to buying eBay labels, purchasing Intenational Standard.  You must have shipped USPS Priority International with full tracking.  eBay leads you to believe that you would receive full tracking with a Standard label.  Standard International is poorer service than USPS International First Class, which provides more tracking than Standard.  All you get is a ESUS111111 tracking number when you purchase eBay labels.  All that does is fulfill the policy requirement of shipping a package with tracking.  After it leaves your building you will not see any tracking after it leaves the USA.  We have had right at 50% of the packages sent Standard that got delivered.  The others cannot be tracked.  By the way the ones that did get delivered were delivered in six to eight weeks.  Yes I got performance defects for buying the cheaper label.  eBay does not care they got paid.  Keep in mind eBay keeps the FVF on this poor shipping service.

This is just bad business, ebay should be alreting their sellers to changes of this magnitude...this is a big deal, nobody reached out to me or anyone else I know of.

so why can t i do it on my own now? Why do I have to pay FeeBay to do it?

They already screwed the pooch for me with managed payments where it takes a week to get paid and the totals have been removed from breakdowns to make it evn MORE harder to get to the bottom of issues.

Last I knew no one was forced to use International Standard, or the GSP.

It is a seller option.

I'm sorry, that's just not accurate - here are the same orders I posted earlier. They are all ESUS tracking numbers, and they all have valid tracking, including delivery.

A portion of my international shipments using eBay International Delivery Services do get lost, but I've lost very little financially - your package is automatically insured up to $100 and all you have to do is file a claim with the Parcel Insurance Plan. It's extremely easy, I do it all the time - here's my most recent claim payouts.

eBay doesn't give performance defects for late delivery, they give defects if you don't ship on time and show a valid carrier scan within your stated handling time.

That is also wildly inaccurate/out of context. If you refund your customer in full for a lost package, you will receive a FVF credit. After that, you can file a claim with PIP and should pretty much break even. However, if a buyer opens an INR and eBay forces the refund, you will lose your FVF, but that's how it is with every eBay case, not just international shipping.

I believe it would benefit you greatly to read up on the eBay International Delivery Services policies.

I read the announcements under Seller News in the ebay Community, Press releases and News on the USPS, Fedex & UPS sites occasionally. Besides the Community here there are several websites that cover news specifically about ecommerce and online selling. Reddit has some ebay selling subs that are pretty informative too. If something new is happening you will hear about it there.

As for international sales I only use the GSP because I don't want to worry about delays and tracking shortcomings in some other country's mail systems. It's not worth the hassle and worry for me to ship directly.

buyselljack2016:  You are playing coy, of course im being forced to use their services..if I dont I cant get confimation delivery. Ebay doesnt care, you know it, I know it...they had no problem beating down my door to alert me almost a year in advance of managed payments...tell me that one isnt forced to sell here.

I cant in good faith send out a order with no tracking, so if theres no other option...yea, im being forced, unless i was an idiot...I can just see scammers coming out of the cracks for this

I dont want to participate in anything ebay has to offer except their traffic... thats it.

This platform is becoming a racket and they are changing rules so fast, sometime right in the middle of launching a new program and they tell no one!

Id take these services on but I cant trust ebay...Id trust the Mafia before ebay at this point
