I attempted to sell an item through a 10 day auction. The item was won by a buyer and only 10 minutes later was canceled by eBay due to account issues the buyer was having. In the email I got from eBay it said to relist the item. I did relist the item, however now I have a charge of eleven dollars in my account though I did not see anything yet. I have a warning that says to pay soon. Trying to find help on how to go about avoiding the charge as I haven't sold an item yet and according to instructions, sellers get charged upon successful sale of items. Thanks! New to selling.

When you put a reserve price on an auction, you are charged a nonrefundable listing upgrade fee which is based on the reserve price. You used this option in your listing, so you owe that fee regardless of the outcome of the auction (reserve met or not; sale or not). Most experienced sellers do not use reserves, they just start the bidding at a price they'd be willing to sell for. You can read about reserve fees here:

In my opinion a auction with a reserve is not a good idea, many buyers (me included) do not look at auctions with a reserve. It is better to just set the opening bid at the least you are willing to take and no reserve needed and buyers know the minimum it will take to win.

Thank you I will look into that for future auctions. I was unaware. That helps a lot. 👍
