Getting invalid category for Barbies when relisting or sell similar unless i delete UPC

Trying to do sell similar or relist with 'new' listing tool (using firefox)

(can't upload pictures, have to put them in auctiva and get them from the web, but that's just another unrelated glitch)

getting 'invalid category' error (tried several different ones)

searching around saw that someone had luck deleting the UPC

it worked but now I could be missed in ebay search, right?

What am I supposed to do?

I also like that on the last day of a 'freebie' I am unable to list: yea!

@decadesgoneb4 What happens when you go back into the active listing and add the UPC? Is it accepted?

@decadesgoneb4

The UPC was a hot mess from day one.

They don't get that UPCs change all the time.

MFG changes packaging... new UPC.

Just put N/A... I mean who really searches by UPC ?

That is what they told us on roll out, I don't buy it.

I will pull out one of my Spice Girl dolls, and have a look see.

But most buyers just search the item name.

And many things never had a UPC to start with.

@decadesgoneb4 Is it only on sell similar and relist or is it also when you create a new listing?

Is this the only category or are others doing the same thing?

I don't create new listings so only on relist and sell similar

I couldn't change to any category under dolls / Barbie contemporary

That issue seems to have been resolved

However, I still cannot upload photos and have to import them from the web (using firefox)

thanks for following up.

Here we go again.  when I use the bulk relister, I get the error that the UPC is missing.

so, relist individually.  If I put in the UPC, it hates every category and get red error message

So, have to relist each item indivdually without a UPC.

ebay programmers are the worst!!!!!

It was also happening in the books category a while back. Items that I had already listed, I could not relist unless I removed the UPC and chose "not applicable" or whatever the other option is.

And in sewing patterns, I had to change many of the brands in specifics, especially smaller companies, (but Vogue too, for crying out loud), to "unbranded" or it wouldn't accept them on relists.

Did they have UPCs in '73?

Those girls would be middle-aged now and might not like change you know.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Not listing ones that are that old.  so they definitely have UPCs.

but, as far as barbie's age goes, she was probably 20-ish in 1959 when she came out so she would be 78 now.
