So this past year I sold about 4 items, and 3 out of 4 didn't pay for the item and I had to resell (one of them even did an offer I accepted). I am on my 5th person and they aren't responding. I am very unenthused about selling on ebay anymore! I believe they need to add parameters to the preferences allowing you to block buyers who have even 1 case in 12 months instead of 2. This didn't happen as much as this 10 years ago. It seems all too common now. What gives? Why would a person bid or offer and then not pay or even message you?

I don't have that problem with "buy it now". They pay every time.

If you use IPR they pay every time. I've seen many posts from sellers who sell fixed price and don't know to use Immediate Payment Required.
BTW I've been on the boards since 1999 and there were people back then who complained about NPB. The only change is that sellers can no longer neg them.

It's really discouraging when this happens.
Apparently some buyers feel entitled to have a change of mind & just walk away, some without saying a word.
The is the age of I do what's best for " Me " & I am entitled to care about myself.

OH yes we did. I've been a seller here for a long time. And yes back in the day when I use to run auctions all the time, you bet there were lots of non paying buyers, even further back than 10 years ago.
Figure out the price you want, post a GTC listing with IPR and wait for it to sell as others have explained. The buyer can't buy the item unless they pay.

If I recall, it was three defaults and you were out - that's the big difference. I recall filing for non-paying bidder (now called 'unpaid item', as if the item is supposed to pay for itself) and seeing them become NARU.

Perhaps because they sent offers to several different sellers, and chose the most attractive deal that was accepted. Orf they were in a hurry, and chose the first one that was accepted.

Yeah...I had buy it now, but thought I would extend trust AGAIN. Now I am only doing Buy it now without offers.

This is the very reason why I no longer do auctions . I've had BIN on almost everything for years but a few months ago I tried auctions again I think I was actually paid on only a few . The troubles with auctions is there is time for buyers to find other items to spend their money on , circumstances change and minds change and then the sellers are left out in the cold. Just stick to BIN is my advice . Tulips

It wasn't quite that simple. It was 3 strikes by 3 different seller in a 30 [or maybe it was 60, it was a long time ago, sorry] day period. That was the old rule. Today's rule is anyone's guess as it is not made public. We just don't know what it is.

Hey. Turq, hope you are well. Tell me, since I don't buy on here ...let us say I actually bid on an auction but the auction isn't over yet, would I get the usual ebay emails showing items that are cheaper while the auction is still running? And same scenario if I accept an offer? When I did buy one thing last year as a test, I know I received multiple ebay emails with cheaper items (many not even related) when I did a BIN/IPRs and received these cheaper notices from the day I paid all through the delivery notices and up to 60 days after I paid and already received the item. Just wondering. And no, I am not about to do a "I am a buyer test" on an auction or a best offer. LOLOLOL.

In my experience as a buyer, no Ebay doesn't send me emails before the purchase of lower priced items, while I'm bidding on someone's auction.
