I sell a lot on eBay mostly clothes, a buyer asked if he could send a shirt back that didn't back and I refused...for the sake that he didn't ask me for any measurements nor do I know if it would have fit him or not, and made a bogus claim in the his negative feedback that the shirt was "cheap", perhaps to make his claim stronger.

I contacted eBay and said it was malicious feedback, they have yet to respond and it's been a week.  Can you get these negative feedbacks removed, and why won't eBay respond?

I've had issues with eBay in the past as far as correspondence, they offer a "contact us" and to write them with issues and they never respond, is this negligence?  As a seller, I feel they do absolutely nothing to listen to issues.  I feel there should be a class action suit on the horizon, as there system is borderline fake as they offer to help but have no desire to.

Well you're unusual as a buyer and possibly a guy. Women's clothing fits all over the map. I don't think asking for measurements is unreasonable and I DO believe a good clothing seller will provide them right in the listing.

As I'm fond of saying, if a buyer has to ask a question the seller is probably not doing their job.

Sizes are 4 to 18 which I have no idea what that means, but assume a woman would know. Nowhere does it state measurements.

JC Penney also allows you to return items that don't fit.

Buying clothes online is a gamble for fit.

--------------------------------

Selling clothes online is a gamble if the seller only puts a two word description like the op did >> " 100% Polyester "  Smiley Indifferent

This gamble didn't pay off for the op.

Measurements are vital, and if sellers are too lazy to provide them, well they will just have to accept the consequences instead..

Providing simple measurements is hardly "boutique experience". Want fewer returns, provide measurements. It's not rocket science. Furthermore I also provide fabric information and even care instructions if they are unusual.

When you are being the eyes and fingertips of your buyers it is worth a little extra effort. I do it because that's what I would like to see as a buyer.

These kinds of attitudes are why clothing buyers are so difficult sometimes. They have to deal with sellers who think measurements are a boutique experience instead of simply necessary.

This statement is NOT TRUE at all, at least in my experience.  I used to provide all the nonsensical measurements that some of the difficult buyers require.  As competition increased and prices plummeted in used clothing, I decided it was no longer worth the time to do measurements in my listings.  It was a business decision, not because I was lazy.  And guess what?  Sales stayed the same and I had fewer returns than when I did measurements.  Why?  Because those that need all the measurements are way more picky.  So maybe it is rocket science.

With all due respect, that link shows a length of 39 inches and a size chart that you click on.

I thought measurements include waist, hips, chest, arms etc. Length would be referring more to the style of dress, like short or long sleeve.

Sorry, I now see the TRS banner.

Buyers have come to believe TRS means nothing~that there is no greater chance of a problem free transaction with them than you have with a newbie seller.

With all due respect to the OP, who I realize is upset, measurements were not in the listing, OP expected the buyer to ask for them, refused a return because buyer didn't ask, then said it was malicious feedback and reported the buyer.

The feedback says "Advertised as Men's Medium; small at best and cheap. Return request denied."  OP's listing clearly shows size Medium in the collar and also on the adidas tag.  Um, that is why the OP advertised it as a Medium, because it is a Medium.  Feedback is clearly malicious, whether there were measurements or not.

So we know that when it was manufactured it was a medium. it's been washed since then and we don't know how it responds to that. I've seen washed clothes that shrink a size or 2.

Huh?  Did you even look at the OP's item in question?  Item was sold as new and the pictures clearly show adidas tags affixed to the shirt.  This shirt was not washed.

there are lots of buyers. There are good buyers and bad buyers.

Good buyer often take the time and effort to protect themselves. They do some "homework" before bidding. They look for actual measurement. When they don't see them...... often knowing there are literally millions of other listings and that a return email is a crapshoot, they move on to the next listing. When they find an item they want with the right measurements, they buy. They get the item and love it so they click to add that seller to their favorites and start shopping there over and over since they like the service. That selller sells more. They get to combine shipping..... They get requests.... They thrive here and never need o ask where the buyers are or accuse ebay of "hiding" their listings.

Then you have other buyers. They see that the item says medium. When there are actual measurements, they might check to see what they need, they might not. They know eBay has a money back guarantee and so they can always return it..... They pull the trigger and buy.

It shows up, it doesn't fit. They file for a return and send it off using the label ebay sent them.

You're not guaranteed to get the second buyer, but you won't get the first, so it will seem like you get a whole lot more of them and with few good buyers to keep your spirits up. Well, it will suck .

So if you want to run off the good buyers, you'll get what's left.

There is a size chart link above the select a size box. From that link they show the measurements for various sizes.

With all due respect, true, but you said there were no measurements there; 39 inches is a measurement.

And see the previous post above this.

If you have a Ralph Large and a Nike large, I guarantee you they will have a different fit and measure differently as well. Just because the tag says large, it is still very vague and doesn't mean that large will fit. all you have to do is ask and someone will answer you on how to measure clothing. shirts or tops you should definitely have the length measurement and armpit to armpit, the chest measurements are essential as to how it will fit. when measuring pants, you should measure across the waist, the inseam length and from crotch to waist called the front rise.
I know when I purchase tops, length is a priority to me so I would need to know the length before purchasing. Everyone wants to have an idea on how it would fit before they purchase.
when accepting returns, the buyer pays for the returned shipping, not the seller, if you provided the correct information as I said. And you have the option to refund the initial shipping cost, so you don't have to, so no, you are not losing out on shipping costs.
Do whatever you wish but I am advising you so you don't have any issues in the future.

you cannot compare a large corporation making millions of dollars per year to a person selling clothes out of their homes hoping for a sale. JcPenny also accepts returns, this person does not. And the last I checked, JcPenny does not sell pre-owned clothing in which if the item was previously worn or washed, it is not going to stay the exact same size, may have shrunk a bit.
