Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

Sold an Item, buyer didn`t pay, started a claim, now I`m the one that has to play the waiting came, again.

Had to wait for the buyer Not to pay, now I have to wait for eBay to do their thing. All the time I`m losing time and money not to mention now I have to wait again to relist my item, then I get to wait for it to sell, again. Can I leave Negitive feedback for the flakey buyer while this is going on....NO!!!  So now I sit with my unsold item waiting for my next encounter. This unpaid process need to go alot faster, I also think some kind of action should be taken for non payment, not just a slap on the hand....

Time to wait for an answer, again

It might work out for good. I had a no pay once, relisted and got twice the amount second time round.

I will do that from now on.  eBay should charge a restocking fee for none payment, then give it to the seller for their troubles.

Instant payments are not allowed in auctions, so you would need to do a fixed price listings.

Which leads me to this information.  On fixed price (FP) listings with instant payment required (IPR) the first buyer to commit to buy and also make a payment gets the items.  The system does not allow FP - IPR listings to be removed from  search result just because a buyer commits to buy it.

Good Luck Selling!

Re: Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

Yes I have.....But I PAY for it 1st. If I don`t like it to begin with don`t bid

OK, so instead of not paying, you'd prefer a buyer pay, even though they don't want the item? Then have them wait for shipping, file a SNAD, send the item back on your dime then neg you?

That's an odd preference but ok.

One big reason why I wouldn't push it when someone doesn't pay. Would you rather they pay, open a return and send it back? So that you get to pay the shipping and the return shipping?

I just don't understand why auctions are still a thing.

99% of what is on eBay has a known value. Your Harry Potter VHS aint gonna sell for $1000 in a bidding war no matter how much you hope it happens.

Wait, are you saying I should lower my reserve then?

Re: Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

If they Didn`t want the item then they shouldn`t of Bid. If they do bid and change their minds a message or email or send some kind of message should have been sent.  Not just sit there and not respond to my messages (5 of them). They were in the wrong and I`m the one who has to do all the work and all the waiting. Communication is the Key...they didn`t

Re: Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

You do know, under your site preferences >

Buyer requirements

you can set an option so that bidders with X number of UID (Unpaid Item Disputes) can NOT bid on your item... X is a number  2, 3, 4 or 5, and then it asks you to set months (number 1, 6, or 12.)

So for example mine is set to Block bidders and buyers who have received 5 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 6 month(s), you can set yours to your own liking but I have found this greatly reduces the fufu.

Beyond that you need to report and do what you are doing, which is play the waiting game.

Re: Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

Auctions are designed for items where you do not know the value.

If I'm not sure what its worth I list as a auction. Also its a much faster sale generally. I can list the same item as BIN and as an auction with the same price to start and the auction sells 99% of the time and the BIN takes a month or so. Its a mentallity with buyers.

Personally, I love auctions as a buyer.

Re: Getting Stiffed then having to wait for results.

You cannot control THEM. You can only control YOU. So set your requirements as tight as possible and just deal.

Fingerpointing does nothing more than get you upset. Use the force, close out the sale and move on.
