I have been selling here for about 15 years and do okay with it for the most part. Over the past few years I have been using the duration options in a manner that I honestly feel helps me sell more items. I do not see GTC as ever helping me in any way, and will be livid if I ever mess up and let eBay rip me off for a large number of automatic re-listings that I don't need or want. Starting tonight, as I relist or "sell similar", I am adding a disclaimer to all my descriptions that truthfully says my listings will never run as GTC. It is my intention to do mass cancelling and then relist in bulk so that all of my listings will always end on either Saturday or Sunday evenings within a 2 hour window. I should be able to fully implement this within the next 30 days and by always ending my listings in 7, 14, or 21 day duration groups continue it forever with a minimum amount of extra work. My store has 1K "free" listings every month and will allow me to rotate and choose up to 500 fixed price listings a month in addition to whatever listings I can move to my "free" auctions and add BIN to. We are not eBay employees and there is no reason for them to control our listings. Please look at my listing #254169284964 and give me input positive or negative about the description. Thanks.

Your description is off putting to me , sounds like an angry rant and I would not want to make a purchase from someone with such a description . I would just move on to another listing and buy the item from them to avoid potential problems from what at first glance " Appears to be " an angry disgruntled eBay seller . I mostly sell on eBay and agree that I do not like the new change , so I know where you are coming from , but I am also a buyer as well . In my opinion you will be hurting your sales , just my 2 cents .

"...there is zero chance of any of my listings going beyond a 21 day period after the first relisting."
Buyers have no way of knowing when your listing was created.

Besides the feeling of a "rant" in your listing, I would add a blank line in several places so the buyer does not see a block of text, and buyers might be able to READ what you are saying.

Having read your listing, I think you may want to look at it again in the morning. Sleep on it. There is really more there than any buyer wants or needs to know. Try to keep it to basics - item, listing time(s), descriptions and such. Try to limit the politics. If the buyer knows ebay well enough, they are probably tired of hearing it and if they don't know ebay, they probably aren't interested. Not a lot of what you are saying is hurting ebay and it isn't helping you.
You asked, so I thought I would chime in. What's that they say? 'Be careful of what you ask.'

No disrespect intended. I don't think it is a good idea to make know in your listings the dollar amount you pay for a store, or what your plans are for your listings and how you will go about it. The buyer's these days are not interested in anything like that. They are too much in a hurry and want everything yesterday. I am old fashioned and would take the time to read everything about what I am looking for but that is just me. I am an avid reader and researcher. But most buyers want it and want it now. We as sellers can barely get buyers to read the important information about a specific product even thought it is listed there right in their face. That is the reason there are so many returns...no one wants to read anything. It's just a "lets borrow it and return it society, as I'll just file a SNAD and won't have to pay for the return". That is dishonest and unacceptable. And, since most are using smartphones to shop, they won't bother to scroll and read as they are just too much in a hurry. I would just stick to making your listings the best they can be by focusing on particulars of the item and do what you need to do behind the scenes with your listings. I am winding down here at eBay and have just a few items left that I wish to get rid of. Nothing major and nothing that I could not donate and just be rid of. It is just not the venue it once was and it will never be able to hold its place in the competition as time goes by. Too bad, it used to be fun to sell here...now it is only anxiety and a waste of my time. I have better luck finding nice items in the incredible consignment shops we have in our area as many of them offer vintage and high end clothing. Why shop on eBay when you can see, and try on what you are looking for. Wish you the best of luck on what you decide to do. Take care.

There is no requirement for sellers to agree with Ebay before a policy can be enforced.
If or when the Ebay bots catch up to your new descriptions. Ebay will close your listings for violating the listing policies for sellers.
I understand you are just trying to do what is best for you and your business. But along with that, we have to adhere to the rules of the site if we want to remain selling here.

Hi, i am in agreement with the other posters. You have a legitimate concern but it will do nothing for your sales to include an angry monologue inside an item description. Your beef is with eBay, and very few buyers are going to have a clue what GTC stands for, nor does it concern them.
As a buyer, when i come across such terms in a listing, can’t hit the back button fast enough. I want to do business with folks who are professional in demeanor because i feel there is a greater chance of satisfaction overall.
Negative verbiage that takes up 9/10th of a description is a waste of good selling space. Tell me about the item, not unhappy issues with eBay.

Take this last post as a warning that someone is going to report your listings--fix them immediately if you don't want to get in trouble. This board is full of snitches and people who think they have the right to dictate how others should respond here--and how others should conduct their business. Trust me--I can't write anything anymore that might offend the thin-skinned ninnies that come here. One of the smartest things eBay ever did was turn sellers against each other by allowing them to report each other. Please note* I did not say it was one of the BEST things eBay ever did--but they definitely did a good job of turning seller against seller. Plus, they have to do far less work patrolling listings when the busy-bodies, the morally superior, and the idiot do-gooders are sticking their noses into everyone's business.
Change your listings now--eBay doesn't even let you appeal before they punish you and pull your listings--giving the snitches the ultimate gratification of actually feeling like they are relevant --talk about giving people a false sense of accomplishment--gross.
I have nothing but empathy for you, honestly--but everyone is right so far--your rant only serves to make you look hostile. And as soon as I saw the mention of you being reported, I knew that someone was going to come along and read that suggestion, and run as quickly as they can, to be the one who makes everything right in the world again, with their unwanted and unneeded interference. You've been warned--it's sad that it has come to this, but honestly--it is a pretty ugly world here right now.
