GTC NO WAY OR OK

Here's your chance to voice your opinion. I'd appreciate it if before you describe why you dislike GTC you begin with NO WAY or if you're one of the very few who has no issue with it please start with OK. It just makes it easier to see what the percentage is.

OK.....

I tried the 30 day listings for awhile and after awhile, all I was doing was relisting items.

I didn't use the bulk system, I did each listing individually so I could recheck each listing.

I also do a lot of off Ebay promoting and it got to be to much trouble trying to update all those links every 30 days.

I found the GTC and been using it for years now.

Have a great day.

OK.......

I haven't been using them but I should have and had been planning to do so at least for the items I have multiples. I am now a casual/seasonal seller only listing consistently for 4 or 5 months per year with sporadic activity the rest of the time.

For my listings which are slow moving ooak items I'll just end them before they roll over. I use SixBit to manage my eBay activity, they have have a beta coming out in a few days which will allow "scheduled ending time" that you can set at listing time but can also be added or changed anytime.  I'm going to combine that with the OOS option for the repeatables, pretty sure that will be good because as it is now those listings are NOT active frequently and they are proven sellers.

Does this survey really matter? In a few weeks the actual full Spring Update will arrive and there will be something else to have a freak-out over.

Pretty sure this board will once again be littered with Managed Payments threads.

So far...I just began using GTC on March 1st.  I was using 30 day FP, with a few auctions a couple of times a month previously.  I like the OOS feature, too.

Ok....

Before I stopped selling 5-6 years ago, I had a store and would auction every item’s first listing and then put the unsolds in GTC. I liked not having to fiddle all the time. Besides, do real world stores take their merchandise on/off the shelves in short durations? No. Anyway, the GTCs sold almost as consistently as auctions.

When I started selling again about 9 months ago, auction activity seemed depressed or iffy. So I went GTC for everything. Easy maintenance and very consistent sales (especially since I rarely add new items and don’t work what we know about the Cassini algorithms). This leads me to believe EBay speaks the truth regarding GTC playing well with Google, live links, stronger sales, etc.

Ok , it doesn't bother me  at this precise moment . If I encounter any problems  caused by it down the road  then I'm sure my opinion will change .  Tulips

OK

I sell in a niche market, so it takes time for the right buyer to come along.  I have many items that I have had for years, and currently listing them as 30 days fixed price, and when they end, they get relisted in about 2 weeks.  Now with GTC, I won't have to do that.

I list every day, so it should be easy to END them if need be, as in Active Listings, I have a START DATE and an END DATE that I can quickly look at.

You’ve always been able to use GTC, you didn’t need a store to use it.

Or am I misunderstanding you?

OK

I've used since I began selling here. It's a lot easier to un-list a few items every month than it is to re-list all of your listings every month.

All of you folks that like GTC obviously have a store or very DEEEEEEEEEEP pockets.  I have 400 items now on 1 acct.  thanks to a recent big promo.  No way , do I want them to relist.  I am not going to get a store either.    It's a money grab.    Also I don't want an item that did not sell to relist at the same time.  I would rather hold it a few days and then if it didn't sell in an ad that ended at  8 am EST, I will relist it to end at a later time hoping to get a buyer that is looking for that item.

I dont want folks to see an item relist and relist .   People will realize it and not even look to see what else you have  to sell.

Nope, no store.

No horrible relist fees, either. A specific item only shifts position along the month boundaries, so it goes up twice in the same month, about once every 2 years or so.

You're mistake - an item doesn't "re-list and re-list". The item has the original start date, no matter how old the listing is. GTC doesn't benefit people who do not have multiple quantities, or people who do not want to list until it sells.
The biggest problem with GTC is the sellers who do not know its uses and benefits. Some sellers love relisting every single item month after month. Makes them feel like they're working hard. I prefer to just un-list the items I no longer wish to sell, or items that have sold and I do not plan to sell any more quantities. Takes about two minutes each day to go through the listings I want to un-list, as opposed to spending most of every day re-listing items again.

NO WAY

I have been selling on Ebay for about 13 - 14 years and have NEVER used GTC.

I work a full time job and set up my listings to work with my schedule. Before Ebay took away my options I could set up listings to end on my days off, many people still wait til the last minute even if it is a 'Buy it Now' listing. Also for items I have listed for 30 days if those items don't sell I would rather try those again at a later time and put new items out.  I will be going through my listings a couple of days before they are supposed to relist and end them.

You would pay the listing fee if you manually re-listed, too. There is no additional fee to automatically relist. You get charged once every thirty days unless you un-list that item before that thirty day renewal rolls around. The only way you would get charged twice in one month is if you listed something on the 1st, and it renews on the 31st. You would not be charged again until thirty days (or the 30th) of the following month. If that month were February, you would not be charged at all in that 28 days period. Most of the complaints I see about GTC is because those sellers just do not understand how it works.
