Hi all,
I have a bad ebay day today. To the point that I wasted about 2 hours and many more thinking and contacting ebay customer service and exchanging messages.
Here is what happened.
I had some listings that were dead. I have decided just to edit one ( a mobile phone) and change the category, title, pictures description etc to a pair of tennis shorts.
I made a mistake in the listing, I posted 4 pictures, picture 1 and 2 stock photos of the item front and back but something apeared dodgy to me and thought that the colour is way too dark, my eyes were tricked and still thought that the colour was dark purple so I have uploaded 2 more pictures with professional tennis players wearing the shorts. these last 2 pictures represented perfectly the colour of the shorts which is purple.
Another error, which I haven't spotten until it was too late is, that the ebay catalague specifications of the mobile phone from the listing I have edited were still there. This was not obvious to me on the mobile app, and I did change the category and even added item specifics for the shorts as: type- sportswear and size.
One of the item specifications leftover for the LG phone was "Colour" - Black
Then someone bought them, I have delivered to the GSP center and they were gone. When I noticed the specifications of an LG mobile phone with a video review as well on desktop I did not worry much as I thought that cearly, the seller won't expect an LG mobile phone with shorts pictures and title.
But the day arrived and the buyer said he was expecting a black pair of shorts not a purple one.
I haven't written anywhere the word "Black". the only place it appeas is in the item specifics of an LG phone.
The first and second picture shows the shorts as very dark purple (or so I thought) and the third and fourth have Dimitrov and Del Potro wearing the shorts where the colour is perfectly represented as purple.
In the description I wrote that this pair is from the 2016 collection as worn by those tennis players. I don't lie about my listings and I know there are sellers that will add "Federer" in the subject line or description for items that Fed never touched, but I , when I say "as worn by Del Potro" and upload a picture of him wearing the shorts then I will deliver exactly that, as I respect the buyer and the sport.
Now, of course I do realise that I have made a mistake not spotting the old specifications of a mobile phone in the listing even after I changed the category and other details and got myself colour blinded when I used the stock photos of what it a apears to be the black variant of these trousers, but I did sell these in good faith and I honestly thought that the darker picture was dark purple. I have uploaded the third and fourth picture because the first 2 were too dark.
Buyer is not happy with the purple color, doesn't appear to be understanding my predicament and is keen to contact ebay to get full refund.
I apologsed, described what happened, offered the partial refund route and so on but I don't think I can manage to pay his return postage. That is where the problem lies. I am happy to refund the amount I have received, but given the fact that shipping is so expensive from the US who will pay for postage? what will happen next?
I am tired of this...

The buyer has just replied via official resolution where I offered a partial refund route via message (did not specify the amount). He requests a partial refund consisting of the full amount of the product (£28.50) but he doesn't expect me to pay his shipping charges which were charged by GSP anyway.
Am I dumb? What does "partial" means?
"Hi, thanks for willingness to cooperate I greatly appreciate it. I am willing to agree to partial refund for full amount of shorts minus the shipping costs of total $37.37---£28.50. I understand the shipping costs and that is fair enough. " and the more polite tone of Thank you yada yada...up until now he sounded very abrupt and harsh in messages and suddenly he is seeing the light... I know...stupid mistake and actually all defects on my account (2 for out of stock) were my fault which could be avoided. I need to wise up to this but no matter how much benefit of the doubt I give to this seller, I still think he is playing me on my own mistake.
If i were to see 2 different colours of an item in the pictures and the specifications of a mobile phone in a clothing listing I would not bid or buy before clearing this with the seller. the expression "Taking advantage comes to mind"

As a seller you will be on the hook for GSP shipping charges, VAT charges and return shipping charges. Cut your losses while you can. I learned the hard way on the Ebay GSP and opted out. Just be thankful it was not a couple hundred dollars of GSP fees that they later did a chargeback on via PP that you are on the hook for.

Sorry this happened to you. The phone app is problematic.
If you can list using a computer, if you have one, that would be great.
You might want to check your listings both before and after they go live.
Just some thoughts.

This is a mess. Using those photos made it even worse. just refund the buyer and don't do that again, it wont work out well ever.

Sorry but there were multiple issues here, as has been said, refund.
