What would be their reason for a return?
03-01-2018 11:05 AM
You will not have to use free returns for international buyers.....whenever this goes into effect.
i.e. you can chose free for US, paid for international....... which would be international.
GSP is not the buyers location, obviously the key would be the buyer location.

True...right now if one opts in to free returns and has GSP or direct international , they would have to accept the return...I guess , since you cant exclude international yet ....OR dont use GSP .

if you use gsp, you ship to kentucky. tracking shows they got the item.
your done.... it will be the the gsp center that will have to deal with it.

Hi! So I understand there will be separate return policies available soon ...
BUT GSP is NOT technically another country , what will happen when a GSP buyer wants to use the FREE RETURN option ? Will they be blocked from using ? @Anonymous alan@ebay Thanks!
Hi @becksrelics, happy to provide some reassurance on this topic. Though the specific details are still forthcoming, I can confirm that if a seller does not specifically offer free international returns within their policy (when available this spring), we wouldn't assume that the seller's domestic free returns policy applies to international transactions - GSP included.

That’s incorrect. Using the GSP does not absolve the seller from liability once the item arrives at the GSP. Seller is only protected against an INR and damaged item claims .

Sorry Jen, but, you are incorrect.

Sorry not sorry, it’s you who is incorrect. Might want to read this:http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/faq/global-shipping.html#lost-damaged-undeliverable-items
the GSP only takes responsibility for lost and damaged items. All other SNADs and remorse returns are the responsibility Of THE SELLER!

I'm sorry but jen is correct. If the buyer files a remorse return and the seller accepts returns - the international buyer sends the item back to the seller on their dime. If the international buyer claims the item is SNAD - then the seller must send them a label for the return or refund without having the item mailed back. Using GSP protects us from INRs - items not received and item damage due to shipping - the buyer then deals with Pittney Bowes

The Global Shipping Program (or “GSP”) provides a safe and easy way for sellers to “sell internationally and ship domestically.” The details are taken care of—from helping identify which types of items can be sold where, to completing customs forms, to calculating and providing international shipping with tracking.
All international shipping and import charges are calculated automatically and paid for by the buyer upon checkout. Once an item is sold, the seller sends it to the Global Shipping Center using the shipping method of their choice. After the purchased item arrives at the Shipping Center, the seller’s job is done

That refers only to shipping the item out. It doesn’t mean the transaction is done at that point. @Anonymous Can you please confirm that using the GSP does not absolve the seller from all responsibility once the item is shipped to the GSP? The GSP does not handle returns period. The seller is still responsible for remorse returns and non-damaged item SNADs. Thank you!

Return policies vary among sellers. Some sellers accept all returns, some only accept domestic returns, while others don't accept returns at all. You can find the return policy for a specific item by going to the listing or contacting the seller.
If you don't receive your item, or if the item is damaged or doesn't match the listing description, you're protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee, even if the seller says they don't accept returns.
Remember, when returning an item purchased through the Global Shipping Program, a seller who offers to refund your original shipping only refunds the domestic shipping cost. You won't receive a refund for the international shipping or import charges that you paid to the shipping center.

I agree with Jen and tunicaslot. The wording they use there isn't really specific enough as when they refer to returns, they are referring to remorse returns. However the new wording is more specific.
The buyer files an eBay Money Back Guarantee. What do I do?
Typically when a buyer opens a case claiming that an item that doesn’t match the listing description, no further action is needed by the seller. If further action is needed both seller and buyer will be contacted by an eBay Customer Service representative.
However, if the item was damaged when it arrived at the Global Shipping Center, or if an item is defective or not described properly, the seller would then be responsible for the refund.
Are international returns supported through the Program?
With a few exceptions, international returns are not supported through the Global Shipping Program at this time. eBay may choose not to display the returns policy field of your GSP listings to international buyers unless you set your returns policy to no returns or exchanges. If you wish to accept international returns, you should describe your international returns policy in your listing description. The returns policy that you specify in your listing description of a GSP item will apply to your buyer's purchase of the GSP item, unless your policy is inconsistent with local legal requirements in the country where your buyer is located. You are responsible for complying with all laws and regulations about returns that may be applicable to the sale of GSP items to international buyers.
