GREAT BUYERS!!!

Most of us come here for help with bad buyers or bad ebay policies, lack of help, etc.  Sometimes it can get really depressing and seem like nothing good happens on ebay.  After reading the many threads on this board, it sounds like it is populated by many great sellers who give first-class service and advice.  I thought it might be fun to post our GREAT transactions to help us cope when things go bad.  I hope this will be a place to let our professionalism shine!

I'll go first:

I am a disabled single mom trying to live on social security.  In order to keep a roof over our heads and feed my daughter, I have been selling many personal items which have senimental meaning.  I have to admit, there are times I have shead a tear when something special sells.  Recently, I sold a number  of special little girl dresses my mom and grandmother made for me 50+ years ago.  I had a buyer who loved the dresses, and bought several at one time.  She liked them so much that she came back and purchased several more.  She negotiated a good price with the second purchase and was very happy.  I always send a private handwritten note with my sales, and thaked her for giving a loving home to my personal treasures (never mentioning my situation).  She sent me a wonderful email with pictures of her granddaughters wearing these treasures!  She also said that after receiving the dresses and seeing the quality and love put into them by my mom and grandmother, she felt bad about the discount and sent me enough $$ to make up the full price before the discount!  What made this extra special was that it came the same day when I got my first neg by a crazy person who called me a liar.

I hope this brightens someone's day, and I would love to hear your stories!

GREAT BUYERS!!!

I sell for fun. I like to hunt for stuff and cannot keep it all.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with many many many wonderful customers (and sellers) during my years on eBay. They make it a bit more difficult to be chatty and friendy with their fear of off-ebay transactions, but I still get many nice folks send me photos of their purchases displayed in their house, with their collection, or photos of them self in the vintage clothing. I love to hear about what people collect, and why they buy certain items (replacing a lost memory, etc.).

Cheers!

GREAT BUYERS!!!

We Love your story!!

We are in a similar situation.

We have many things that are hard to part with. Many with memories attached to those who we loved, who have gone before us.

We simply have no one to pass them on to. No one to share the thoughts  with.

We were selling a dear, long departed, relatives Siverplate flatware. (we used to use it, but the days of having 60 for desert & needing extra flatware appear to be behind us)

Had it listed as local pickup. It was purchased by a buyer who lived close.

She graciously told us the story of why she wanted it.

Her family had long ago picked the pattern. (As in several brothers and sisters a few generations back)

Handing it down, there was a family member who didn't get a set & ours matched.

We were so happy to see our Flatware go to someone with family who wanted it and would use it.

We hear from so few buyers when we sell our things, not even feedback, it really was heart warming.

PS. I have out right now little dresses my grandmother made for me. Have not gotten the emotional energy to deal with them yet, but your story has given me some strength to know that when I do, that too will be ok.

Thanks so much for sharing. I needed the lift.

I've been buying and selling on ebay for about 10 years and have had some negative experiences. BUT, I calculate 98% have been positive, including 'situations' with eBay staff ^;^

professionalism --that is  a awesome  word than can be easily applied to many of the great sellers i've had the pleasure to deal with over the years on this site.

The very Reason the greater % of my payments go to sellers on this site more than others.

Heh, this has actually been on my mind the last few days.  Those of us that frequent these boards can easily get a very darkly skewed view of selling here!  We have to constantly remind ourselves that as painful as it is for those getting scammed, those transactions are in the minority.

We should do our best to sympathise, assist and educate those that are on the receiving end of a bad transaction, but remember it's only the bad ones we see here.  The majority of transactions go off without a hitch.

I can count on one hand with fingers left over the problem transactions I've had.  I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the nice messages and/or feedback from happy customers!

Keep it all in perspective!

It did for me  and thank you for sharing it !    . One time a buyer offered me less money than my asking price  for a breast cancer awareness  locket necklace  that I had for sale . Part of the sale  proceeds I was donating to the American cancer society . After she made the offer  she contacted me to say she was sorry  she didn't see the charity contribution  and went ahead and paid the full price .  There are nice people out there . 🙂  Tulips

GREAT BUYERS!!!

I've had many great buyers throughout the years and I've had mostly fantastic sellers. As dt said - we mostly see nothing but problem transactions here and people bemoaning how bad it is - but when I sit down and actually think about how many bad buyers or bad sellers I've run into - it's very small when considering how long I've been here.

Great thread OP - people have to remember - you can't please everyone and no matter where you go - there are problems. The grass only looks greener on the other side! I can bet if another site solves your one problem you had on Ebay - you'll find a different problem you have to deal with.

I've sold on here on & off for many years. Like you I can't work due to my health so I sell on eBay just as a way to buy extras for my kids & myself.  I also use my small profits to buy my husband gifts & for us to go out on date nights. I have one transaction from years ago that still sticks out in my mind.

I was selling some DVDs my kids had out grown. I hated selling one but I was trying to declutter so I posted it up for sale. Someone quickly bought it and wrote me a sweet long thank you for putting it up for sale. She said it was an answer to a prayer. So what was this DVD? It was a Shirley Temple Sing A Long. It featured cute little Shirley Temple singing songs and the words to the song appeared at the bottom. My first child had loved this and we watched it a few times a day as she was growing up. We'd sing the songs together & just made some fun memories. My other two kids really had no interest in it, much to my disappointment.

Anyway, the buyer was from New York and she had worked in entertainment for years as did her husband. Their daughter was almost five and they were looking to get her into the business. She described her daughter as someone who looked like Shirley Temple. She was wanting the DVD to help her daughter learn the songs and dance moves.  She thanked me over & over again for putting the DVD up for sale.

Over the years I've wished I could remember who this buyer was and if the little girl ever became anyone well known. lol It's more fun to think and pretend it is someone who is now famous than go searching through records. At times I still wish I had the DVD because I'm still a big fan of Shirley Temple. Plus part of me hopes to share my love for Shirley Temple with my future grandkids. I've looked to buy it again but can't find it anywhere.

GREAT BUYERS!!!

I am sitting at my computer with tears running down my cheeks from reading all the wonderful stories!  I was a little hesitant to post this thread, but I am so glad now!  When I sell something that has been special to me, I like to visualize all the places in the country (and world) they have gone to brighten someone else's life.  Like some of you, my daughter has little interest in the items and I decided not to burden her with guilt about what to do with them when I am gone.

Thank you all for making my day! heart

GREAT BUYERS!!!

I had a buyer who received a destroyed envelope that was missing the item they bought. After they showed me photos and sent me a message about it, I immediately refunded and appologized.

After that, the same day, they bought almost 20 coins from me and return to my store all the time buying huge quantities of coins every time. They are my best buyer now and they stop by to buy coins from me all the time, sometimes spending over $70 per time.

All of this because of a destroyed package...

GREAT BUYERS!!!

After reading your story, it made me forget about a buyer who called me "Incompetent". This person wanted a refund for a damaged comic book without return. He obviously thought I was going to refund him right then and there.

Sometimes I receive messages from buyers telling me how happy they are with their purchases and they left me positive feedback. The great buyers always outweigh the bad buyers.😊
