I recently had a customer order 2 items at 29.74 each at the same time. He returned one item due to problems with it. Ebay tells me I need to send a refund to the buyer but........... ebay wants me to refund the full amount(59.48) of the order. I have called ebay 3 times about the problem to no satisfaction. Any suggestions?

It may be that buyer has opened the returned for 2 items and quantity and total $ amount of refund required will be shown on the return case itself and this may be why eBay are saying that you must issue a full refund for the 2 items as per return case.
If this is the case then please contact buyer and ask him to close the return case and you can then send him a refund for the $29.74.
Another option is for the buyer to pay you $29.74 to your Pay pal account and you can then issue a refund for the whole amount of $59.48.
Depending on Postage costs and any other factor that may have a negative impact on you please consider asking your buyer if he would like you to send him a replacement item instead of refund.
If he agrees then send the item using a tracked & or signed service and upload a copy of the new postage label to your buyer through eBay messages and once item has been delivered then buyer can close the case or you can ask eBay to close the case.
Hope all works out to your satisfaction.

I once ordered two sets of bathroom floor rugs that were supposed to be anti slip. Each set had two rugs inside, which I must have overlooked. I opened one set and discovered they slipped on every floor surface and would only work as big truck wheel wash towels. They refunded me for the open one and never asked for the second set back. Once in a while the universe cuts people a small break.
