Free eBay store offer

I got an offer for a free eBay store for 2 months. Right now, eBay often send me offers for 100 or 200 free listings. The benefit of a store would be suspending sales while I'm gone. If I try a store and then cancel, do you think eBay will quit sending me those offers for bonus listings? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

Thanks.

Re: Free eBay store offer

I can only tell you my experience. I started a store, decided the cost to sell the product line I used it for was to high so closed it. I get free listing offers on that account and use that account to sell items whenever I get some freebees.

With my stores, I rarely every (got) get a free listing offer from eBay. Kind of punished for having one IMHO if you want some free perks. Seems like once they suck you into a store, the free stuff seems to dry up.

Granted, I don't know how eBay decides who gets offers. So could have to do with STR, could have to do with what usually gets listed....I just don't know.

Personally? if you go with a store, go month to month - avoid the 12 month contract - and see how it works for you. Watch the fine print on the free offer because if it is only good on a 12 month, even 1 month in if you don't like it, the cost to get out of it will be expensive. If you're getting all the free listings often enough your needs are met, paying for a store is kind of pointless unless you really need that vacation mode.

Cheers

Re: Free eBay store offer

Good point about the 12 months.

I had one a while back for reduced fees for 2 months to upgrade, BUT you only had ONE month to decide if you wanted to cancel.

Basically what the deal was, was 2 months reduced on a 12 month subscription.

OP needs to read the fine print VERY carefully before deciding.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Re: Free eBay store offer

Might be worth it if you have enough stuff to sell. You can get a basic store for $21.95 a month with a locked in yearly subscription, or $27.95 without. That would give you up to 250 listings a month. I currently pay $59.95 a month for a premium store, as I plan to list hundreds of items for sale. It gets really expensive though with all the FVF fees and nonsense that ebay charges. I owe like $133 total for this past month alone, ouch!

Re: Free eBay store offer

I have a basic store subscription so I don't have to depend on freebies. My stuff is long tail and can take some time to sell. I want things to be available all the time for when the right person comes along. I don't mind spending $22/mo for the increased listing ability,  I make more when I have more listed. I really wish Ebay would do away with the 250 fixed/250 auction split and just go to 500 any type listing, but I just have to deal with it.

On this account I get maybe two or three freebie promos a year I can actually use, so if I sit around waiting for freebies I'm losing money.
