Free Returns

I am a small seller on Ebay, I have never been a TRS, and I don't want to be. I keep getting messages from Ebay telling me that I need to revise my items and give them free returns. Between shipping, ebay fees, and paypal fees, and the cost of making the item, if I return it for free I make zilch on the item. Nada, nothing, as it is, I may have to pay out of pocket to return an item, making negative dollars. Also, I could not resell the item after it has been used. What is the answer? Go elsewhere to sell? Stop selling altogether? I am retired, live on a very small fixed income, and enjoy the small amount of extra money I make occasionally on ebay. Now they want to take even that little bit away! Makes me angry, but what can I do?

Thank you, I do sell some of them as two or three in a bundle but I use my scanner as the camera and can't fit more than two or three. Due to arthritis it is hard for me to use a camera. I have found thou that my bundled ones do not sell as quick as the single item ones.

You have 12 pictures. The more you use the happier Cassini Search is.

And it is possible to stack comics, which are after all, pretty thin, so only the titles show for the first picture.

But you do you.

I have been a TRS for at least 4 years and its not worth it.  The last major item I  sold was a pickup only an organ I am selling at no cost for a senior center.  The buyer refused to pay because he claims, his nephew used his login.

Yea and pigs fly.   And now they want us to pay returns no way    OK Ebay  Keep your TRS It doesn't mean that much lets face it they don't want us smaller sellers they want the large chains selling off their unsold stock.  If after all this time Ebay wants to kick me off who cares  daveliq6jlr

Ebay is only suggesting free returns. You do not have to offer them.

You can just keep doing what you have been doing.

Don't let this stress you out.

Suggesting you do it at gun point you mean.

Free Returns is ebays New Coke, this time next year we will be moaning about the glitch prone thing they replaced it with

My heart goes out to you and what you are saying is exactly correct about ebays fees. ANYBODY AND I MEAN ANYBODY THAT USES THE FREE RETURNS OPTION IS CRAZY. Let me tell you what just happended to me. I had a buyer that first of all is completely wrong in his reason for returning the item but we will deal with that when I get the item back. I tried one item with free returns  that I have had listed for at least 5 years with ebay and no complaints at all.  All of a sudden this jerkoff buyer goes crying item is not as described which in my opinion that is no more than Ebay given BUYERS A REASON FOR RETURN STUFF. I have that bull for a reason twice before and the buyer was totally wrong. The buyer is using that excuse to send back stuff. Now Ebay comes up with a typical BUYERS advantage over the SELLERS. Once again I accepted the return of course had to and EBAY has the nerve to charge me $8.02 for a 3 ounce item. The cost of shipping is $2.85 and that is without ebays discount. What ebay is doing is they are tacking on an additional charge to the seller for sending the buyer the shipping label. All I can say is keep it up ebay and you are going to lose a lot of sellers. In a nutshell ebay if we dont make money then you dont either. I hope this recent policy change ebay has come up with bites them in the ass bigtime.

I would call and question the price of the return label as we are not supposed to be charged more than it cost to send it if we used ebay shipping.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

More and more the Ebay system from top to bottom is designed to encourage sellers to sell for less and make lower profits on everything they sell. Call this silly but listen carefully Best match search being used to pressure sellers to offer free shipping and free returns is very effective in making selling on Ebay less and less profitable.  The seller has overhead expenses regardless of who gets to pay for them.  In my opinion the siding with the buyer against the seller is one of the biggest mistakes that they have ever made all buyer want free shipping or something for nothing but over time profitability and sales have declined. The only ones that benefit from these tactics are the large wholesale suppliers that have taken over on this site. The days of the one person selling something to another have rapidly faded as the last ten years have gone by and time will tell but the China or wherever wholesaler will be all that is left here in future days for the low price is all there is.
