Where do I start... from paypal holding my money? Or from Fedex putting a limit on the value I want to ship?
I recently put for sale a Rolex on eBay, somebody won the auction and now I will have to put this "box" in someone's hands and hoping to not being screwed from a third pary (courier or buyer). Paypal put the money on hold (so if something goes wrong they won't lose a penny), I find myself being paranoid and, because I think too much, I also have a feeling that something can go wrong for real.
Let's put it this way. I want to use FedEx (this is the company I trust the most) and once at their office they told me I can only declare $1000 for the value of the watch. So if they lose the box they will give me $1000 (much much less of the value as you can imagine) Let's say I trust FedEx and I know they won't lose it and I ship it to the buyer anyway. Now, the buyer paid with paypal using a relative's verified account, same address (is it the same? I don't know if this guy lives there for real, but at least the same last name and shipping address match). What can go wrong? I don't know, but (and here I'd like to receive suggestions) what happen if the buyer says that the box was empty, or if the watch is a counterfeit and sends me back the counterfeit or the empty box? Paypal will give him his money back and nothing to me. FedEx won't pay me a penny cause they delivered the box safely. At least if I have his money I can fight the issue. Are buyer protected? (I read ebay buyer protection and made me laugh)
Thanks for your time folks!

Here's where you start.......
Don't try to sell an expensive item like a Rolex unless you know what you are doing and have quite a bit of selling experience.

If you can't afford to lose the Rolex, then it shouldn't be sold here. Plain and simple. There isn't any seller protection if the buyer says the box was empty. The buyer could claim the watch was broken, file a case, keep the watch and send you a bag of dog poop and ebay and paypal would force you to refund him.

Seems you understand and are aware of the risks of selling this Item here on eBay, I believe the real Question here is why would you? Good Luck to you.

Where do you start - do not list anything you cannot afford to lose, especially if you are not sure of what you are doing.
And there is no way to 100% protect yourself from someone claiming the box was empty or the watch is broken, filing SNAD and sending you back a watch straight out of a gumball machine. You will have to pay return shiping as well.

Look, if you are that worried, cancel the sale and quit selling on eBay.

What can go wrong? Oh just about everything.
im surprised that eBay's MBG made you laugh- it usually makes seller's cry.
If your buyer is a scammer- and he probably is because they target new, low feedback sellers- he will receive your Rolex, make claim to eBay that it is Not As Described.
You will have to send them a prepaid shipping label- out of your pocket- and they will send you back a Timex watch.
you will call eBay and they will side with the buyer. Every. Single. Time.
you will be out your Rolex, shipping both ways, and PayPal will take a full refund out of your held funds.
DO NOT SEND IT.

For expensive small packages don’t use Fedex use USPS Registered Mail it is much safer and you can insure high value items.

Exactly, rare coin dealers have been shipping that way for 50 years......

Don't use FedEx.
Use UPS and insure the hell out that package.

Don't worry, if you don't ship they will stop you from selling.......
If you want cash take it to local pawn shops and see what they bid on it.....

so sorry to say but a fairly new seller with a low feedback score selling a hi priced item is like having a bulls-eye painted on your back. this will attract scammers from everywhere & everything that can go wrong with this sale, just might....cancell, refund (if they have paid) & take the hit from ebay.......jus sayin'. .....GOOD LUCK!!

Honestly, I wasn't aware of these new rules, if I only knew it.
I bought several watches during my time with eBay, sold some in the past, now I need the money and I start getting rid of them. When paypal held the payment I started getting worried. Why they didn't stop me from selling then?
Well they aren't going to stop you. They'll still want to make $. And eBay likes to promote that it is a seller friendly environment.
if you cancel the sale-your account will suffer a defect, which will affect your selling ability here- please review all rules for sellers so you go in with your eyes wide open
