This is a weird one, sold a cologne in 50ml version (very hard to find), buyer emails me back saying its the 30ml version that I sent him. Pictures show a 50ml version box with '50ml' written on it.
Not for the first time ive had something like this happen, sold a DVD box set perfect condition but again the seller claimed they 'were all scratched and unusable', in this case I didnt argue and refunded (£8) in the new case its considerable more money
In the new case the guys pulling a fast one, how do ai deal with this?

Not much you can do at all, the burden of proof is on you. Take the return back and block him from all future purchases. Buyer isn't wrong from ebay's standpoint and no matter how much you argue with ebay it will get nowhere quick. Had this happen to me with an item and they said it was fake(i sell comics) they kept it and gave me a negative , yet i had over 100 copies of the book which i sell quite frequently. I asked them to remove the negative feedback which they said they can't because they can't verify if it is real or not lmao So basically they will always take the buyers side of things IMHO

Make sure your photos show EVERYTHING about your item. It's a long shot, but if your auction photos are clear, and show the weight of the item, as most bottles are marked, take a look at both shipping labels. If you can show that the weight difference of the item being sent vs being returned is the difference between your bottle and the impostor bottle, you may have a chance in successfully disputing this. Also, report the buyer.
