I sold some clothing and the buyer paid immediately, but in Paypal's shipping information it had PLEASE SHIP TO: (name, address, etc.)
So I did, and tracking shows the item arrived just fine.
A month later, the buyer has opened a case saying her account was hacked and someone else put that shipping address. She is asking for a refund.
Shouldn't she take that up with ebay/paypal??

Yes she should. Upload the tracking number and then call whoever the case was opened with and have them close the case, assuming its an INR. Don't mention the buyer's statement about a hacked account. She can file an unauthorized use chargeback & get a refund from paypal. If it is an unauthorized use chargeback, again upload tracking and call paypal, you are covered by seller protection and they need to release your funds and refund the buyer themselves.

Did you print the label through PayPal, USPS or another method.
I always ship to the PayPal address, which 99% of the time is the address that is used on the USPS label. If that's the case, then the customer does not have a foot to stand on. If the address given was not the customers address on file, you could have something to worry about.

Did the eBay and PayPal address match. Sounds like they may have moved or sent a gift and didn't reset to the correct address. Can you add tracking to the case? Ebay or PayPal case?

Thanks for the quick replies!
The ship to address was different, but it was in the Shipping Information and said "ship to - (address) which was different - as if it were a gift. I printed the USPS label through Paypal, so the 'ship to" address is the address that was printed on the label! Basically she is saying she did buy the item, but someone hacked her paypal and changed the delivery address and is requesting a refund.
It's an eBay case, and I have added the tracking info just now.
I am wondering if it's not some sort of scheme.... hmmm

Add the tracking #. You may even wants to call after a short while and have it closed in your favor.
I should add, don't let them escalate it unless they are closing in YOUR favor.

Now that you have added the tracking info you need to CALL EBAY and get them to close the case in your favor. If you don't, they could very well close it in the buyer's favor because they think you didn't respond within their time frame with a refund.

As long as the paypal payment states it is okay to ship to that confirmed paypal address and you ship it with tracking or if above $250 with signature confirmation then you will be protected by paypal even if it is an unauthorized transaction or a chargeback.
If buyer opened case in paypal then call paypal and it is pretty simple. They will look and close it on your end and deal with it themselves.
If buyer opened case on ebay then it is a longer process I would think but just upload your tracking and picture where paypal state it was okay to ship.
Stop Communication with her and inform her to follow ebay or paypal procedure too.

I doubt it's a scheme - it is too easy to prove you shipped and it was delivered. Her account may have been ahcked but it is not your responsibility to refund her money.

Another thing is if Ebay already opened case and has put a hold on your paypal fund for that amount then call paypal and let them know what happen too. They might go ahead and proceed with closing the case on that end and release fund. I am not sure how that scenario works where she is filing a case in ebay.
I think Buyer is scheming though because why did she not go through paypal since address was input in paypal end. Either way if your fund is on hold then contact paypal. They can also check and see if she took action like her acct was hacked or not. In either case you will be protected if you ship to the paypal ship to address if paypal states it was okay to do so with tracking.

@blijeolifantje Signature confirmation is only required if the purchase is $750 or above. Not $250. And a PayPal chargeback is a longer processor than an ebay case. It's an eBay case so the OP can call and get it closed now.

What are you talking about? It's eBay case so why would OP call PayPal? PayPal can't close the eBay case and there is no PayPal case to close so what case is PayPal going to close on their end?

I have always known it to be $250 for signature confirmation. It might have changed I do not know but if it is above $250 then I do signature confirmation. Paypal refunds and close case in seconds when they see you have follow their shipping procedure or guidelines. I had this happened last week and they release me from any responsibility within 15 minutes of her opening case. Paypal stated they would deal with it on their end and I have completed everything on my end. I would say paypal solution is much faster. This is from actual experience.
