Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

I am done. Ebay has gone way too far. When I'm already selling a $30 item for $4.99 just to move clutter out of my house at the rate of 10 auctions per month, and I see THIS.....!!!!!

Nope that's it. I'm not paying 35 cent insertion fees on top of PayPal and final value fees because eBay wants to FORCE me to accept fees. I will list on Craigslist, FB and Let go for FREE.

I don't have a store and I don't do eBay to pay my bills. It's just for fun and it's clear they don't want me here anymore. As soon as I fire up my laptop, I will cancel my auctions and try to delete my ebay account. I will not spend one more dime here EVER.

It's bad enough that I have to turn offers off 10 times after ebay kerps adding it. Not I'm threatened with more fees?! Nope, I've sold here for 15 years and it just gets worse every passing year. Screw you scamBay. DONE. ABSOLUTELY DONE.

Ebay does not have the traffic it once did nor is it selling much to the buyers that are there since the shoving of the catalog down sellers as well as buyers throats.  So now Ebay is going to tell you how you will do your listings if you want their 50 free listings per month.  Just another way that Ebay continues to try and keep sellers under their thumb.  Wait until you see the charge on your invoice for refusing a Best offer no matter how much you would lose on it.  You are better off either doing what you said or buying a Starter store so you at least keep some control over your account.

Also if you have sold anything from this account in the last 180 days you will not be able to close your account for 180 days afer your last giveaway on Ebay.  Sorry for all the bad  news but I thought I would at least give it all to you in one swift dose.

Just curious why you would sell expired baby formula coupons for $4.99. It cannot be worth $30 as it is expired. I thought Ebay didn't allow that kind of stuff to be sold here.

Just set the autodecline to decline any offers not your asking price - or raise your prices a couple of bucks and set autodecline to not accept anything that's the lowest you will take for the item. You're already in an oversaturated category selling baby items and I can tell you from experience - they aren't going to sell any faster or for a better price on any of the other venues.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

For your information the listing I was referring to was not baby formula coupons. It was two pair of pants that I paid $40 for and wore for 2 months and now are worth around $30 but I started the auction at $4.99 plus $7.50 shipping. Also for your information the coupons do not expire until the end of August. And further, people do buy expired formula coupons because most stores will still cash them for 60 days after expiration date. Also I deleted that listing this morning because I sold them locally last night for $10. Lol

Also I have to disagree about not being able to sell baby items in other venues. I sold around $200 worth of baby items on fb marketplace but quit advertising there once yard sale season hit. Winter is an excellent time to sell locally here.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

There have been several promotions recently for free insertion fees, which are only valid if you include best offer on your listing. So the warning applies to listings under one of those promotions only. If you use best offer you get free insertion fee, otherewise you have to pay the insertion fee. The warning doesn't apply if you are using one of the regular 50 free-insertion-fee listings that you get each month.

eBay staff have confirmed this previously.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

I was talking about the coupons you sold that ended on May 6th but you sold them on May 31st. I believe that is a no no on Ebay. Also the pants are used. That is your  "opinion" that they are worth $30. I doubt many buyers will pay that much.

Ebay is NOT requiring you to accept the Offers, just entertain and consider them.

You are free to decline them.

You're right, cool, they don't.

I have no shame and would allow buyers to make some offer that I am free to ignore to save a listing fee.

No need to feel ashamed of that; you are well within your rights to do so.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

It's also against ebay policy to sell used undergarments, including diapers..... Feel free to do a search for pre-owned cloth diapers..... Hundreds of them listed!

Expired formula coupons and checks can be used in most stores and they've been bought and sold on eBay for the 15 years I've been here so..... Clearly nobody gives a dayum.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

It really doesn't matter what a particular store takes, if selling expired coupons on this site is against policy, you shouldn't do it.

You are correct that other people list nasty used underwear on here when it is against policy. Do you think they should continue to do so just because they haven't gotten caught yet? That seems to be your logic.

Re: Forced Best Offers!!? COME ON EBAY!!!

I'm saying that ebay doesn't care one iota to "catch" anybody. I've been buying and selling for 15 years through two accounts and these items have always been bought and sold by the thousands with eBay absolutely NOT caring. Have you even bothered to look at the number of items or situations that are against policy and ebay couldn't care less?

What about the prototype iPhone that has sold TWICE now on ebay and has made national news but is illegal to sell because it technically still belongs to Apple?

If ebay makes money, eBay does not care.

But please do remind me again how this is at all relevant to my concern of best offers being forced or a fee will apply? I'm not seeing the correlation.
