What do you say to sellers who have ALREADY tried GTC, Auctions w/BIN, etc and got no sales? Ive tried all the ways possible before any change. I noticed what and how stuff sells FOR ME! 3-5 day BIN! Thats what worked!
And thats great it workls for others sellers. Im not other sellers, Im Me! The newness of the item up and urgency to grab it before it ends or another buyer grabs it is how my items sold. My items that sit up for too long get lost interest. I KNOW FOR A FACT BECAUSE I TRIED the OTHER WAYS!
Listing auction w/BIN is not the same. 1st, either auctuion price has to be too low for me, and/or BIN has to be too high. For some reason Auctions alone dont work for my stuff very often. Then you also cant list a 3 day item and get some quick cash. AGAIN AGAIN, my items sold due to urgency and newness! Not to mention, its now costing me $1 to add the buy it now to auction if I try this way!
WHY can't it just be a choice like it has always been? I dont sell 1000's of cell phones. I sell collectables!
I know what works for ME! So Ive listed stuff with auction lower than I want, BIN is higher than I want, paid $1 extra for BIN fees, also listed couple items with GTC. = NO SALES so far just like last time I tried GTC or 30 day!
Please tell me how this is a GREAT change for me again!

You know what has worked in the past for you...........but neither you nor any of us know what's going to happen when every f/p listing is GTC........... It's never been tried before...

"The newness of the item up and urgency to grab it before it ends or another buyer grabs it is how my items sold. My items that sit up for too long get lost interest"
-------------------
I've read your other posts about this business 'plan'.
I would not attempt this myself, but in all fairness, each seller was allowed to try what they desired.
I'd fear that "FAST" time limit might make people purchase before they really thought it out? A probability of more return requests and false SNAD complaints.
Not to mention, GTC fixed price Does make people want to buy.. before someone else does.
And as far as items that sit not being attractive enough for a buyer to purchase...
I don't understand.
A good item at a good price with good terms, good photos and descriptions....should sell, when the right buyer comes along.
I don't understand the philosophy that a buyer must be hooked quick, or he won't buy.
That is just my opinion, and I'm sorry you're having difficulties meshing with these new rules.
Sincerely,
Lynn

With all due respect, the sense of urgency that a shorter duration listing gives does give incentive to move on an item, whereas a listing for thirty days may not because it will be around all that time. Of course, maybe it won't if someone acts on it, but the long duration does give that impression, IMO.
For example, say a buyer has two items in their Watch List. One is a 7 day listing, the other is 30 or GTC. Which one would the buyer move on first? The seven day one because once it is over, it is gone. The thirty day one may still be hanging around, though.

For those defending the GTC change!
I've seen very few people defending the GTC change. Most people - myself included - think it is a terrible idea.
What do you say to sellers who have ALREADY tried GTC, Auctions w/BIN, etc and got no sales?
Plenty of people defend tax cuts knowing that some may be hurt by them. And plenty of people defend tariffs knowing that some may be hurt by them. Similarly, I doubt very many of eBay's policies are universally good or universally bad.

I Agree not to mention it takes away your control to list for free with you free listings. If it ends at the end of the month and you are out of listings Ebay gets to charge you fees when you could have waited 2 days and use free listings when you were ready.
I don't understand this ^^^. Could you give some numeric or other type of example?

Thank You Lynn!
The items i sell are mainly wrestling & ultimate fighting collectables. ive seem to notice a major short attention span among us collectors of this stuff (males , lol). but they know what they want and usually what the price it is going for. it is what it is and ive been selling this stuff for 16 yrs on here!
im not sure why other than urgency, but 3-5 day worked best for me. BY FAR. these collectors are usually checking the site constantly, when they see an item sitting for awhile, has a bunch of time left, and no one else is grabbing it, they seem to lose interest in it. Very simple! Again my nitch was Newness of an item up and not much time left (urgency).
Again, Ive tried all other ways. Ocassionallyill get a buyer who hasnt been on in a week, but those sales are 1 vs 10 on people buying in the 3 days only i list it!
Anyway, thanks for the kind words, getting no sales so far with auction/BIN or GTC listings. the prrof is in that pudding right there!
I luckilly have a couple SUPER rare items that will prob sell off auctions, buty after that, im prob done for.

and btw, thatshow all my sales arec done, finding items listed at wrong times, ending at weird hours, wrongly worded, got to it 1st when its worth much more, make offers to sellers, buy it lots/sell singally, etc, etc. it works for me! been doing it for 16 yrs like i said. so my biz plan works FOR ME and my nitch!

well so far my sales have come to a halt with auction/BIN and GTC listings. i tried 30 days lits a few months ago to save on fees and got nothing, went back to 3-5 day and boom sales again. I have another acct with a family member, this is my 2nd not used as much acct.

It is because most people use search of "time ending soonest" and that means your 3 day auction pops right up on the first page or two and the 10-30 day auctions are buried 50 pages deep...... GTC makes zero sense unless you are selling a huge amount of the same thing.

Well - every GTC listing where the seller isn't hellbent on ending it 'just before" it rolls over = )

that and my sales are collectables. a wrestling fan looking up wwf posters who searches this all the time is looking for new stuff and something they havent seen up last few days (much less last month). then boom a poster comes up they like and they notice 1-2 days left on it, that makes the sense of urgency. Its one they havent seen up all day everyday getting bored looking at, and they gotta choose to but it now or miss out. they know listing just came up and know its ending very soon. and know others buyers may grab it. URGENCY = Sales for ME and my wrestling collectables!

Very good point @myjunqueyourtreasure I am in the watch and see mode with my listings. I really do think that us sellers DO have control. If some listings are not performing, something is wrong. For me it is probably photos, as I struggle with this daily. This would be the time to end the listing tweak it and try again.
