Someone sent me a message about something I supposedly posted about a coin involving a "flowing hair coin". Knowing nothing at all about coins, I can't imagine that I'd reply to anything about coins. All I can figure out is that someone mentioned receiving a counterfeit coin and I suggested they opened an NAD case. They also mention a "flowing hair coin". As well, this person states that this doesn't involve eBay. Why, then, would he send me a message about something evidently posted in "Community" on eBay?

Don't respond. I would immediately block and report message if you think it's a scam.

I suspect alcohol played a role in the message you received.

It seems that you did make such a post a couple of weeks ago.

These medals were recently released by the mint, so they were talking about getting them from the mint, not an eBay purchase. They all cost the same when they were ordered, but a small percentage had a special mark, and a percentage of those came with a CoA as well. I suppose they were just having a discussion about it.

Asked them or just ignore it.

Some USA early coins from 1794 into the early 1800s are referred to as "Flowing hair"
Mostly Silver $ and Silver 1/2 $
Some people might misuse the term also.

My point was that I actually have no idea what this person is talking about. However, he/she has stopped messaging me (thank goodness) so the point is moot.

Thanks, so I asked if a case had been opened and that justified someone's jumping all over me and also telling me this had nothing to do with eBay?

No, it doesn't! Not what I meant at all. I just wanted to point out that you had, in fact, made such a post. I thought maybe it would help you figure out what was going on.
Nothing justifies anyone jumping all over you, of course. They were just having a discussion, in what used to be called discussion boards, and they do still have a lot of discussions in that group. Usually about coins but not necessarily much to do with eBay. They are also pretty grumpy some of the time, and not that big on courtesy.
Your post was quite understandable, but I would not think this was worth getting upset about. If they sent you a private message that you think was inappropriate, you can block them from contacting you that way from the message they sent you in your inbox.

Since you did not see the actual message that XXXX sent to me, and yes, it was inappropriate, and yes, I did block that person.

Am sorry if I offended anyone. This person's message to me was offensive. He posted what I thought was a message about receiving something counterfeit. He posted the message on eBay. I asked if a case was opened. He replied to me in a private message that his situation had nothing to do with eBay. Thank you for all your replies.

He posted what I thought was a message about receiving something counterfeit.
And in your reply, you only qualified your lack of coin knowledge and demonstrated your grasp on NADs. The dude is a jerk.

I don't think you have offended anyone in this. If he was offended, it was not a very reasonable response, so that is entirely on him, not on you. He has quite a bee in his bonnet about counterfeit coins from China, which may have contributed to the response, and I would not be surprised if it was irrational.
