Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

Fairly new seller. So all the hubbub about Fixed price Listing going to Good Til Cancelled has two results;  You get a listing charge  every time your listing renews(about every 30 days) and the only way to eliminate this is to relist after 30 days or go to auction. The customer understands this, so they wait for a price drop before they buy. I was selling 10 items per month, but honestly since mid March, one sale. I haven't been on Ebay long enough to grasp this change. I'd appreciate any comments.

GTC is not that bad once you use it a little while and get the hang of it.

If you just use the 50 free listings, just make sure you stay below 50 listings.

I think they are relisting monthly now and not every 30 days like they were.

If you list an item on May 1st, it will relist June 1st. If you list one on May 15th, it will relist June 15th.

Each time an item relist, it does use one of your 50 free listings.

If you list 40 items the first month and sell 5, you'll have 35 items that will relist the next month, leaving you 15 listings for that month.

Some are saying to list everything the same time, then end all the listings in 29 days to keep them from relisting. That's fine, if you don't want those items listed the next month.

Me, I only list a few items every few days, I don't worry about ending my items because I keep them listed until they sell. If they haven't sold in a year or so, I might pull a listing for a little while.

Some make it sound scary with all the relisting fee's, but if you manage your listings right, you won't have to worry about them or ending all your listings at a certain time.

I've been using GTC since 2012 and I like using it.

Have a great day.

GTC stinks. List in groupings . Start late at night. Count 29 days or 29 3/4 days and end your listings. Then relist , count 29 3/4" days.. BUy a calender. Get an alarm clock. Put signs up in your home to go check your ads. DO whatever is necessary to avoid the item relisting.

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

I actually expect sales to get worse than they are now once the buyers realize that the ads do NOT end. I mean , why rush and buy the item. It's going to be relisted forever , right? Well , not my ads. I actually ended all of my listings a few days ago and restarted them all on the same night. My calender is marked!

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

My sales are down too.  And I would rotate my inventory,  so I can't do that anymore or I get nailed with more fees.  I am gonna see how it goes the rest of the month and after all these years, if sales don't improve then I don't need to waste my time.  Ebay has a habit of ruining a good thing.  Very unhappy.

Of course you can do that and there are no fees to get "nailed with".

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

I'm a small seller only get 50 free listing per month so I feel that GTC is a way for Ebay to generate more revenue. I have lost control of my listings and now have to delete them before they roll over to avoid fees. I sell stuff we have collected over the years just trying to get rid of it so it's all kinds of things, just odds and ends. My sales have dropped way down, am very unhappy with GTC, may just quite Ebay as it's not a money maker for me and this consumes too much time with little reward. Stupid idea.

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

I have been listing as fixed price-30 days for the past several years.  My sales have been in the dumps, as I am a low volume seller selling in a niche market.

However, with the implementation of GTC, surprise, my sales for April are the highest for 2019.

I added a START DATE and END DATE to my Seller Hub active listings, so I can see at a glance which listings are about to roll over.  Right now, I am ending my listings with a Quantity of 1, and resubmitting them as auction-format.  I am paying for a basic store, so haven't really been using the auction format much at all.  I usually have about 70 items that I would rotate, with I was using fixed price-30, so now I just have to list them as I end the listings with a quantity of 1.

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

So, Kensgift shop, you don't really care about the monthly relisting charge for those items you keep for about a year? I guess it's up to the individual. Thanks .

Sounds to me like Ken isn't paying any listing fees: "If you just use the 50 free listings, just make sure you stay below 50 listings."

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

Therefore you don't pay any additional listing fees if you're below the free alottment (50 in this case).

Re: Fixed Price Listings vs GTC.

I have a store, so it does not work that way with me.  Rotation of my inventory was my strategy and it worked.  Now I am 5 days without a sale, first time in 3 years.  If you are using the free 50 listing a month then it is easy, but when you are dealing with over a 1,000 or more listings, then not so easy.
