You sell in almost the toughest category, I think - next to electronics.
Hopefully that's all the cancellations for a while, though this time of year, we get the once a year Christmas buyers. 😣 It's why I shut down now (though when I was full time and making my living doing this, that wasn't really too much of an option).

Ho HO Ho!
Please cancel my order, 'cause I just received an email showing me 5 cheaper ones that may or may not be what I bought from you, but they're Cheaper, so cancel!

Actually you just reminded me of something I heard on the radio lately. The DJ read some sort of report claiming that shoppers nowadays are buying an average of 20% more than they usually do for the holidays. This is because buyer's aren't sure what will/won't arrive on time so they overbuy to make sure they have something for Christmas... then end up just returning the rest.
So yea... we'll all see more "sales". Happy holidays.

Mostly, they're slamming the fleshworld stores so I'll take any sales I can get. But yeah, another reason I shut down now - returns, though given I'm in the second hand market it's not SO bad, though one December on Etsy I had a 35% return rate. 😵

If I received that message,
"Please cancel my order, 'cause I just received an email showing me 5 cheaper ones that may or may not be what I bought from you, but they're Cheaper, so cancel!"
I do not sell much and most of what I sell are vintage collectible items in 3 categories, using the auction format, so I can usually print my labels almost immediately when payment is received. My reply would be "Sorry Shipped already, you can send it back on your dime once it is received, since you have admitted to buyer's remorse. Merry Christmas" .
If they had not yet paid I might write;
"I'll be glad to cancel, but are you sure you want to be blocked from bidding on my items in the future"?
I don't much care anymore since I'm done as of Dec 31, after just over 18 years. HoHoHo

It is annoying that as soon as a Buyer wins/pays....e-Bay emails over a confirmation and it shows "similar" items and typically, priced less. Never mind that often, they are not the same item at all, but it is no wonder a Buyer changes their mind so quickly in that 1st hour, post purchase.

A seller just posted here calling it "unfair" that he got a negative just because he failed to fill an order.
So if 20% of sellers feel the same way, that certainly might explain the buyer behavior claimed in that report 🙂

Ebay has been doing this for years and it is more than annoying. I was just about to purchase some shirt bags from a seller and ebay showed me the exact same thing for less and the buyer had great feedback. Such bad business practices and they don't care

Nope. They do not care. And it is annoying, frustrating.....poor practice (pick one/pick all) lol
My post to @bigdeals.etc was meant as Sarcasm.
We SO need a font for that.

Let’s just say I’m still here. 😀
It would be a way bigger issue if this was a consistent rate tho. But I only mentioned it because I believe I’ve never had that many cancellations in a day before. I’d say my average cancellation received rate is about one every 3-4 days. So this one is about a 1500% increase. To also clarify, it’s not from the same buyer… five different wishy washys.
Btw, just got one more this morning. @luckythewinner You might be right with the cause of this buyer mentality. I saw that post you mentioned and it stinks that we have to deal with the aftermath of buyers from sellers like that.

My record is 4 cancellations from 4 unique buyers in a 1.5 hour span.
