First time listing an item on ebay motors, although in years past I have listed a bunch of "stuff".
They buyer came to complete the transaction and, 1) clearly does not know anything about motorcycles: did not know how to get it in gear, or how to get it back in neutral; 2)changed his mind about the transaction; 3) outright lied, and made a personal attack in feedback. Apparently the personal attack and the lies are acceptable to ebay staff.
It's very irritating to me, but truthfully it will have little impact in my life - I have made my last ever listing. IF ebay ever chooses to offer some protection to sellers against such behavior, I might (maybe) reconsider.

You do know that motor vehicle sales on eBay, unlike other listings, are non-binding on either party. That means that either party is free to just walk away from the deal, no harm, no foul?
So that part of this person's actions is okay.
However, not easy to understand how he could leave FB for a transaction that did not really happen. You responded. That is probably about all you could do.

Anyone looking at that feedback will sympathize with you. I mean, it was a $200 bike! Your reply was calm and professional, and carries far more weight than the ridiculous neg does. Sorry you had to deal with it, though.

Lots of interest with 27 bids. Relist, block the buyer and move on. Feedback disappears after a year so just ignore it.

Thanks for the replies. I care a whole less about the ranting of a simple minded and ignorant man than about the fact that ebay allows it. I lived far more years of my life without ebay than with it, I will probably do ok without it from here on out.

Because he did not pay ask eBay to remove the feedback.
