First and last time selling

Been awhile since I've sold anything on eBay and won't bother in the future, as it's insanely biased towards buyers.

I thought the the spirit of eBay was to bring sellers and buyers together in realtime, to set the market.    The market changes from day to day, minute to minute, particularly for items that are time sensitive like hard paper event tickets.

What the heck am I missing, there's literally zero consideration for this!? -- yet I thought this was the entire spirit of the platform.

I could rant all night, but what the hell good does it do relisting an item or being reimbursed $2 in fees for something that now NOW, has ZERO value because the event passed, yet was GOLD the day prior or even 5 minutes ago, to meet a delivery deadline?

Add injury to insult, I can't even leave deadbeat feedback?  Gotta be kidding me!?

Is there something I'm missing?   Please don't tell me "don't wait until the last minute"-- the market changes by the minute and often SPIKES LIKE mad  at the last minute

And leaving negative feedback for a non payer would make things better?

Yes if sellers had the option of actually excluding deadbeats prior to being in complete foreclosure (5 or more no pays)

Won't even get into PayPal holding funds hostage in pending....

You sold 50 pairs. Be glad you managed to do that and thank Ebay for allowing you to. You are wrong, don't wait until the last second for a "spike" in upward price. You got caught and it bit you. This is Ecommerce and you shouldn't expect such a thing. Good luck, the eclipse is over so no need for Ebay anymore anyway.

Unfortunately you didn't know that Ebay DOES allow you to exclude deadbeats with 5 or more no pays.

I have my Account Preferences set to block ALL those with 2 (TWO) or more unpaid strikes in a 12 month period...works very well for me.

ALL new/infrequent sellers have their funds held until 3 days after tracking shows delivery...to protect buyers.

Looks to me as you had a pretty good run for a short time. This with an item you would have had no luck selling any other way. Of course you would have non-payers when people realise that they overpaid. Just hope you don't get some SNAD cases now.

Good grief. You had GREAT sales! So you had a bad apple or two. It happens. Count yourself lucky that you sold such limited use items for such inflated prices. Your items did extremely well, precisely because the market worked as you anticipated: scarce supply +high demand = BIG profits.  You can probably unload the rest as "souvenir" merchandise.

Like others have pointed out, you did great.  To leave eBay because one or two buyers failed to pay you is silly. Where else would you have been able to sell all those pair of glasses? The thought never even crossed my mind to cash in on this. Who knew there was so much money in eclipse glasses? Well, I missed my once in a lifetime chance. You did not. Be happy.

If you had used fixed price with immediate payment required you wouldn't have had the problem.

I can't believe you are complaining about anything, considering the huge profit you just made.

So you got stiffed on a pair or two, you otherwise made a ton of money for eye glasses that were being given away at fire stations, etc.  Hang on to the ones you have left and list them in 2024!

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Am I misinterpreting your reply? Ebay allows sellers to not sell to buyers who have had 2 or more nonpaying cases in one year.  Of course, the seller has to have his requirements set to exclude these people.

"Just hope you don't get some SNAD cases now."

Not just for this OP,

but it'll be interesting to see if the boards get flooded with these sellers,

encountering SNAD cases.

Over priced item.  One time event.

If you think that ebay is buyercentric with deadbeats, just wait until the fake snads come rolling in on you.

The local colleges gave them away around here.
